I am LDS too. No its not a cult. If you don't want the missionaries to come, just tell them. If you want your name deleted , that is fine too. Live and let live.

I do agree that the guy shouldn't have to write a letter to get taken off the list. If you come to my house uninvited more than once, I might send you away with a little colorful language too. If he asks to be removed once, that should be enough.

1st things first. A 2nd party can't have someone's membership revoked. It's gotta come from the member. That just seems like common sense. And a 3 sentence letter is too hard to write? The letter is required so once again, someone can't act for the member out of spite.

Be an adult. Answer your door. Be polite, thank them for their concern for your soul. Tell them you have that matter already taken care of and ask them not to stop at your house anymore because it pisses off the gun nut in your basement.

Find your local Temple, contact the Bishop about your concerns, that will solve it.

Pretty simple.

Temple or Bishop has nothing to do with it....just tell them you're not interested and not to contact you any more. That should do it as they have more pressing things to do than bug you....be an adult about it and go about your day as you have always done!

Now, if they're JWs.....ymmv!!!

+1. I do that as well. You want to ring my doorbell and talk about Jesus...great lets talk about Jesus! First rule: everything comes from the Holy Bible. No book of Mormon, No D&C, or strange translation of the Bible. You want to use King James, great! I have matching copies on the bookshelf. You said you wanted to talk about Jesus, I don't want to hear about Prophets, the true church...Lets talk about grace, repentance, and what Jesus did for us. I have spoken to so many of these little elders, I have found out that every time new ones come into town, the outgoing elders pass on there cell phone to the new ones. I try to get them over for dinner as often as I can. it's sad that these kids have such drive and they are walking around in darkness. Come to think of it...I have not seen them in awhile...might be time to dig out that number...

If it's the Bible only that contains everything that needs be written/spoken about.....consider the following passage:

John 21:25 There are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they would all be written, I suppose that even the world itself wouldn’t have room for the books that would be written.

Yep, there can be nothing else.....
