Gotta let it go man. Believe me, you aren't getting hired if you start witch hunting. And if you smell fishiness, then maybe that's a sign that it's not a place you wanted to work in the first place.

Uh, NO!I might be missing something here...BUT, if an agency asks you to submit to ANY type of medical testing (physical exam, psych test, etc) it has to be AFTER they give you a conditional offer of employment. You pass the exam/you get the job.
I'm not talking about a physical agility test. That's performance-based, and is a normal part of testing.
If you did "pass" the psych test, then they are contractually obligated to give you the job.

Yeah, I'm not looking to start witch hunts but when you look at it that looks incredibly strange.
True, I've been talking more with some close friends in law enforcement and they're telling me to take this turn down as a blessing in disguise. I'm agreeing that it really is now.Last edited by Adeodatus; 01-14-2015, 9:00 PM.Comment

You are competing against people just like you, but they have military backgrounds and/or 4 year degrees."I saved your life, AND brought you pizza" -- MeComment

Don't take it so negatively, don't take it as a blessing in disguise, delete the photo of the scheduling form and just take away what can be improved about yourself and try again. I went through the same thing as you did, was denied the first time. There is always something to strive better on and always someone better qualified then you. Try other departments as well, but threads like this will not help your case should your future background investigator run across it, with the same department or not.Comment

Well guys, thank you so much for all the advice and input.
I'm keeping my head up and constantly applying to everywhere I can.
Thanks again everyone!Last edited by Adeodatus; 01-15-2015, 10:30 PM.Comment

Are you a white male?
If so that's prolly 2 strikes against you these days when it comes to highly competitive public employment of any kind.
And as mentioned, Vets are getting a lot of preference in public hiring at all levels in all types of professions right now, and after over a decade of ongoing war, there are a lot of them.Last edited by Untamed1972; 01-15-2015, 1:34 PM."Freedom begins with an act of defiance"

Not a LEO, but my oldest is now in the CDCR academy.
This is what I told him, so take this for what it is,
If you are going into public service make sure you save for your own retirement. They will promise you the world, it might be there it might not. You don't want to have to start working at Walmart after you retire.Comment

As someone who has spent his young life in public service...I agree with this 100%. I went into public service for the "mission" and the belief in doing some good. I was ok with the mediocre to low pay as the benefits were a pretty nice offset...things have been changing heavily. I don't regret it, but I advise anyone to really look at what they are getting into. Not a LEO, but my oldest is now in the CDCR academy.

Isn't the average LE career something like only 10-11yrs? Seems like a great many never make it to retirement in that field."Freedom begins with an act of defiance"

Yeah I'm into the mission of doing some good and I'm also fine with lower pay and lower benefits. Thanks. I've taken a few in the past and match for law enforcement and public service.
I do very well in high stress situations. I've been around lots of crazy stuff, like have people die right in front of me and I do quite well maintaining composure and doing what needs to be done.Comment
