UPDATE!!!!
I head over to the gun store with my agency letter hot in hand... DENIED!
Apparently the 10 day waiver is only good for State and Local 830.1 peace officers. This was news to me! I used a letter in the past and had no issues. I called several gun shops and they said Feds are good to go. I'm super pissed off.
The sales guy called someone who is with the DOJ and they said negative as well!
Damn it! Wth is going on!!!!Comment

I believe that since you already did your DROS, you would not have been able to pick up the gun anyways, and you would still have to wait the 10 days. Could be wrong, but I wanted to do a similar thing years ago, and I had to wait it out.
Can't help you with the Fed issue. Best regards.
ETA: Oh yeah, brass to face is an issue that was raised when 9mm Gen4's were originally released. Any problem on Glock's part was taken care of or addressed. Now, as others mentioned, the problem stems more from grip and/or the thumb coming into contact with the slide which alters cycling a bit. Enjoy your new gun.

"Yah the 17+1 is nice."
Take a look at the Glock factory +2 extended base plate. Makes the standard Glock 17 magazine a 19 rounder. Adds about 3/4 of an inch to the magazine bottom.

If there's anything I've noticed, CA makes it more difficult as far as Federal LEOs go with weapon/mags/accessories purchasing. Most of the laws are written for people with State and local qualifications.
But all the same, good choice for a duty weapon.Comment

So we carry the sig P229 and get 40 cal federal 180 grain HST. As far as 9mm which I've been issued for my back up glock 26.. It's Gold Dot Duty Ammo in 124 grain.
I'm really curious to see the difference between the 40 and the 9mm as a duty weapon. People love Glocks so I'm pretty excited.Last edited by ARinSD; 12-25-2014, 11:16 PM.Comment

As small a detail as it is, you'll notice a weight difference just because of the grain of the rounds. I switched from 147 gr 9mm to 124 gr +P recently and can feel the difference specifically in the weight of the gun.So we carry the sig P229 and get 40 cal federal 180 grain HST. All around I like it. If you can get away with it look at Taron tactical's mag base extension. Gives your +6 rounds (total of 23) in one mag. Pricey but I think good to have in your bailout bag or plate carrier.Comment
