    Glock 17 Gen 4!

I just wanted to share my excitement!!!

My agency recently authorized the Glock 17 as a duty weapon. I went to my local gun range and they had one for a great deal with night sights already installed so I bought it. It was spur of the moment and I'm too lazy to get a memo so I'll just wait the 10 days... well make that 8 more days.

Anyhow... I was reading up and saw there was a bunch of issues with the Gen 4 kicking brass to the face. I hope this issue has been worked out.

Thanks guys! Merry Xmas to you too.

I guess this is my Christmas present to myself. I went home on Saturday and ordered a new duty holster and a blackhawk CQC for 5.11 and polo shirt days.

My academy class was the first class to train with the Glock 17 Gen 4s in our department and I don't believe anyone of us had that issue but, I've seen it happen outside of that.

Went shooting with my cousin and noticed she was having the "kicking the brass to the face" issue so I decided to try her gun out for myself and didn't have the issue. We determined that it was from an improper grip that caused the issue.

I have about 1000 flawless rounds through my 17 gen 4 and about 5000 flawless rounds through my 19 gen 4. Not so much as a hiccup from either and never any brass to the face. I'm guessing the brass to the face issues were mostly Internet hype. Hopefully your agency allows magazine extensions. Can't beat 22 rounds per mag.

Oh, and get yourself into a Glock armorers course. Well worth the 200 dollars, especially if you're carrying a glock daily.

Thanks guys. Yes it was a blue label for a great deal.

Where would I be able to take an armorers course? Maybe The Glock Store here in San Diego?

The Glock training website usually posts classes about a year out. I did mine at Brea PD recently.

I want one now. I have a 21SF, 13+1..I wouldn't mind going 9mm (since everyone is it seems) and increase my round count...

No issues with my gen 4 G17.

Duty is G21, so I really like the large back strap which gives that 17 a bit more 21 feel.

                              Hope you enjoy yours!
