    Exactly true, absolutely can relate.
Urban legends are a poor basis for making public policy.

I agree with what you say and see your point, however, on the other side you want to say that police never killed innocent people? Never took bribe? Never being unnecessary rude? never behaves like they are goods in uniforms? Never look down on regular good guys?
I can tell you, as a law abiding citizen, in all my encounters with policemen, 80% left unpleasant trace only because of the way they talk.
And all encounters were like a little chat, asking for directions, watching them drive and such.
Easy question, why policemen while driving, never use turn signals? but if i do not use turn signal, what is gonna be? They always drive above speed limits, why? What should i think about it? In my little experience with them policeman act like they are above the law or they are the law themselves.

I want to believe that the most policeman are good guys and a couple of rotten apples spoils the picture, but it is what it is

With the few that are poorly trained, the massive lot (of professional idiots) that know nothing of LE work, I don't care any more at all either. But I took off my uniform forever. I don't care if they all kill each other. Hope your retirement is soon so you can enjoy not having to deal with this daily BS.**** edit***P.S. I would love to have a "Week of no Police" once a year.

sashaalexander, thank you for validating the OP's post.

I read what you wrote, re-read the original post, and it all made sense.

When I wore the uniform both for the Sheriff's Dept. and Fire Dept. there where many days like that. And with the current situations being blown out of proportion it makes a tough job even tougher. Every profession has that 1% that makes the rest look bad. Be it a teacher, doctor, or mechanic.

I just hope the good ones can hang in there.

WooHooo! Me Too!... I got a few people I'd like to disappear, and a bank around the corner that could help me immensely with my retirement account.

Good post OP. That Lt. hit it right on the head. Every "victim's" name I keep hearing in the media were all involved in violating the law, yet they are being presented as "the innocent." I miss being a cop some times, but in today's society, I would have been fired because my level of tolerance for b.s. is very low.

I definitely feel that your feelings towards society and the media is justified, but I also believe that this applies to other bodies of people from minorities to social classes or even race. Like someone else said I hope the good guys hang in there.
There are educated people out there who do understand there are good cops and there are not so good cops.
To all the good cops who are holding it together and hasnt given in, you are appreciated.

Perfect example of how grief knows no limits. The human condition. Do your best to keep everything in perspective. I'm no motivational speaker and have down days so don't get me wrong. Big picture boys.

If you have a bad experience with almost every officer you meet, it may be time to consider that the problem isn't with the officers. It is what it is.

                            This times a billion lol

In my experience I felt like they either didn't really care and just wrote tickets(speeding) to be over and done with it. And I'm probably one if the few that used to dislike law enforcement and now have a deep respect for it. Hell I wouldn't want to do what they do every day, and if anyone gets busted for anything they were doing something wrong.

This job gets a lot easier, and oddly enough gets done better, once you stop caring.
