Contrary to popular belief on CalGuns, LASD holds its personnel to a high standard. You are expected to follow rules and regulations, and respect other people's private property, especially off duty.

As a supervisor, I handled as many investigations for off duty conduct as I did for on duty conduct.

CalGuns members who are non LE CCW holders have reported being able to use the lockers at Disneyland. It may also depend on availability on a dail basis.

A business has the right to have a 'no firearms' policy on private property. As an ACTIVE LEO I abide by their rules or I don't go. Theme parks usually have complimentary lockers for firearms. There is a vast difference between Legoland and the Oakland Coliseum as far as potential threats.

There was a thread a while back where people with LTC's were flaunting the fact that they ignore park policy and carry anyway. People who ignore private property rights and end up getting detained & jeopardizing their LTC rights completely deserve it.

As a non LEO LTC permit holder, I agree with the above post. I respect the property owners right to post "No Firearms" signs, I don't patronize their establishments, they don't deserve my money. There are too many other places offering the same services that don't restrict my right to carry.

Disneyland will not hold for non Leo. I've tried twice now and both times there were more than 5 open lockers out of the 10.

I don't know how often it becomes an issue, but maybe it is something a non LE CCW holder should take up with Disney Customer service. Maybe CalGuns Foundation could get involved.

With 5 out of 10 lockers already taken, depending on time of day, it may be that they get filled by LE on a regular basis. I don't know, since when I go to Disneyland, I leave my stuff at home because I don't want the hassle, and I keep my situational awareness at a higher level. That's just my decision, based on my experience, but may not work for everyone.

Disney is just anti-gun all the way around! I was at an Angles game a few years back and I badged an Anaheim cop and told him I was packing, he sent me packing! We talked on the way out to my car and he told me that Disney refuses to allow ANY firearms (not carried by on duty police) on their property. The cop was cool about the thing and I put my S&W Model 60-C in the lock box in my car and walked back into the game. I was a bit butt hurt for a while but I understood their point about concealed guns in the park especially with alcohol and idiots in the mix. I just don't take the guns to anti-gun places anymore.

The sad part is that if you walk into an place that has an anti-gun policy in place and let's say something does happen you are able to stop the situation, you're still going to be in a heap of trouble. You did a good thing, but it will be trumped by the bad.

Went to an Oakland A's game last year, called in advance to find out what their policy was for LEO carrying off duty. Was told to go thru gate 7 and speak to supervisor and they would provide me a place to bench my weapon. I opted to just bench it in the lockbox in my personal vehicle rather than go through all that. If you are wondering what Legoland's policy is, call them.

You do have a choice, you can choose to leave it at home that day, or drive home before you go to DL. I am a LEO and chose to go to Knotts instead of Disney because of the gun policy. Why test the waters? Its likely I wouldn't be caught, (I take the idea of concealed seriously). Its also likely my Dept. wouldnt make a big deal over it. However I wont lose my right to carry if I'm caught. You CAN! You're right to carry doesnt overrule the OWNER of a PRIVATE COMPANY'S right to say "no we dont want weapons on property".
You are giving the Sheriff of your county the ability to pull your license.

Like I said, I'm a Active LEO, I chose to give Knotts my money (we had a great time by the way). If I take my kids to Disney, I'll declare and drop it in a lockbox.

I'm always confused with the attitude "I have a 2nd Ammendment RIGHT to carry", "I have a CCW!" Vs the equal right of companies to deny your entry or place RULES for your VISIT to THEIR property.

Yep. LASD will discipline someone caught carrying at Disneyland. Before I retired, one of my deputies got caught carrying at Disneyland. Disney Security calls Anaheim PD on any firearms issues, and they will contact the issuing agency or employing department. The deputy got a one day suspension.

Disney has gun lockers available.

I'll take a chance of catching day off vs the day when some idiot simply tosses his buddy an AK over the fence on Harbor Blvd and tries to use it in Fantasy land while I'm standing near by.

Your entire argument is false. You speak as if you are required to carry, which you are not. Your discomfort with leaving it in the car is your issue, not Disney's.

To the OP, LegoLand is situated in quite a different part of the country than Dland or Oakland. We live 15 minutes away, and have been there upwards of 50 times in the last few years. Got family that lifeguard at the water park. I've never had a problem, nor have I even seen any folks that would resemble a problem there. Worst story I've ever heard from the fam was little ones leaving floaters in the wading pool.

I think you're safe leaving the smokewagon at home.
