    Officer Down!

An off duty CDCR Officer was shot and severely wounded tonight in Colton. It looks like Riverside PD might have two suspects and a gun in custody not too far from the shooting scene.

Reports say the officer was severely wounded and was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where he is fighting for his life.

Prayers for his survival and a full recovery.

Hope he recovers. And I hope the guys who did it rot.

I'm hearing that he was off duty but in uniform. Im always seeing CDC guys in uniforms driving their pov's. Ive talked to some and theyve told me the reason they go to and from work in uniform is because they dont have locker rooms to change out in. I dont think most, if any, carry off duty either.

I hope the officer makes it. This is an all too common occurance. My =thoughts and best wishes are for the officer and his family.

I am glad they have someone in custody.

There were no readily available locker rooms at the three prisons that I have worked at. Most officers wear a cover shirt but anyone who has been in prison or worked in a prison can still see that it is an officer. Also, firearms are not allowed on prison grounds and have to be checked in if brought. I'm not sure if you have to have special permission to do it but I don't see it happening very much. I'm hoping the officer pulls through.
