Here are a few pics...the pd-32 vs pd-32 ultimate edition. the ultimate edition is a better light because of the extra setting, more power, heat sinks and the most important upgrade is the duel spring set up the battery rides in.way better drop/shock protection.
On low it only puts out a tiny bit of light, for map reading, doing paper work etc.on high you have 750 lumens at your disposal...there are several output settings so you can find the one best for you quickly with the side mounted button.
I also took a pic of the charger for you..

          +1 for the Strion LED.

I have multiple Surefire lights, a bunch of Streamlights, the Fenix PD32, PD32UE, LD12, and several others, along with FourSevens, Eagletac, Brite-Strike, 5.11, Olight, Trust, etc.

There are tons of good flashlights out there now that would work well for patrol use. I took a FourSevens Maelstrom last year and beat the tar out of it. Still works and I bought the T&E sample, dented and all. I'm currently testing the PT2-AAA from Streamlight and beating the tar out of it... It is also coming through very well. (Last week I threw it about 25 feet up in the air and it landed directly on the tailcap. It dented the battery but the light, while nicked up pretty good, still functions perfectly)

I've put over 30K rounds through one Surefire X300 light so I know they are durable as can be.

Ultimately, to make a good suggestion, we need to know more. Is this light going to be used for routine duty as well as tactical use (routine meaning looking at drivers licenses, traffic control, writing cites, etc.) or is it going to be a dedicated tactical light? Do you want it to be rechargeable, and if so, would you be open to a light with lithium-ion batteries (they work great but there are real safety concerns and you better know what you are doing)? There are also many lights out there that are rechargeable, or will take rechargeable batteries, but also function with disposable batteries.

I recommend at least one dedicated tactical handheld light on the belt or in a sap pocket... Somewhere readily accessible. Then an additional light for routine use. Most on my department use the larger Streamlight SL20X series, though I have been working with a Stinger DS LED (350 lumen newer model) and DS LED-HL and both are great, especially if the department doesn't allow the larger lights.

The Lawman is actually a really nice versatile light, but at the price point I would get the Stinger DS LED HL. I have the DS LED (non-HL) and I'll be getting an HL soon as well.

Here is an old photo of some of my lights... It doesn't include the weapon lights or the ones at work, and I've probably acquired ten or so more since then. I have a problem, yes, but I am really big into low-light training and tactics, so it goes hand-in-hand:

Hey Bro, that's the 1st Step.

And I know FOR SURE that we aren't the only two Flashaholics here...

Hey, is it me or did a county issue light sneak its way into your picture?

Oh yes! I keep it for hilarity, example, and nostalgia sake. I've used it exactly, uh...never...

Except to show how bad it is compared to just about everything out there.

I actually lost my original and had to piece together parts from about five other lights to make one that worked. I'm not sure how long this one will last.

Yes... My little namey-thing on CPF even says so!

P.S. - The PD32UE is pretty badass... For a close range light, the 740 lumens and floody light is great. It's my nightstand light since I can set it to low so I don't wake up the world and completely destroy my night vision if I have to get up at night, but a couple clicks and it's good-to-go for a tactical light. My only complaint as a LE duty light is that the throw is just a little short compared to some of the other lights with XP-G emitters or XM-Ls but larger reflectors.

I would get the streamlight strion. I actually have two of them and used the second as a back up but recently have been letting my friend use one. They are crazy bright and hold a charge for a long time. The only down side is that you don't have a warning before the battery runs out, it just shuts off.

If your working graves or swing shift, there is nothing better than a stream light SL20! When you get out of the car, throw it in your sap pocket. One of the best impact weapons you can buy. I have a fenix pd32ue on my belt right now. That thing is bright!!! Can get them on eBay with charger and batteries for about $90.
