    @ drewxd/g23
How does the stinger ds hl cycle between the modes between the two switches? The surefire lawman can be programmed to have the tail switch on high only while the head switch cycles thru the modes. Can the stinger ds hl do the same thing? One of my pet peeves is my flashlight cycling thru modes when I don't want it to. Thanks

I don't really like the way the Stinger DS HL programming is set up. After using a "Ten-Tap" Protac HL, I like that programming much better.

Anyways, with the Stinger, you click on and quickly click again and it goes to strobe. If you click on and hold, it cycles to the lower power. There is no way to disable the other modes. I wish there was.

Good thread. Based on what I have read I ordered a Fenix PD32 UE.

Thanks. Does the stinger HL cycle through the modes if you just hold down the button slightly without clicking it?

Nope, you just get high power.

I've got a Klarus XT11 on my belt right now as a back up. http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/...EAMSHOTS-VIDEO

Gonna swap out my TLR-1 C4 for a TLR-1 HL on my gun as soon as I get around to ordering one...

SL-20 in my sap pocket with a Surefire Fury single output light with momentary cap (no twist model) on the belt.

I should mention that my TLR-1 had a fair amount of rust underneath the rail area after a few nights of working patrol in the rain. I would never have seen the rust if I hadn't take off the light to thoroughly clean the gun (M&P).

Hey, is it me or did a county issue light sneak its way into your picture?

HAAHAHA... i have several of those "issue" lights... just aquired over the years... PROPERTY OF XXXX, LOL

I have a older Surefire G2Z non led light (need to really upgrade to LED), SL-20X (LED combo)... I really need to look into the Fenix lights. Been thinking of ugrading.. good thread.

I'll won't ever get rid of the SL-20X, great impact tool, have one in each car. Used to carry it in my sap pocket too..

Awesome. I can work with that. Thanks for the info.

FYI for those of you that use an SL20 or SL20x. Terralux makes a drop-in LED bulb replacement that is rated for 600 lumens and costs like 50 bucks. I have a 300 lumen terralux LED bulb in my Ultrastinger and it's definitely an upgrade. I'm sure the SL20 version would be just as good.

Hey RV, I have the same Ultrastinger drop in. Now if Terralux would only upgrade that drop in with a Cree XML, I'd buy 2 more for my other Ultrastingers...

How does the new Stinger HL do with the battery run time. I like the lumens but prefer to have a light that will last a 12hour shift. Might just get the HP.
                            Hi cap=standard capacity!!! 10rnd=reduced capacity!!!

You bet. I did buy the Terralux upgrade for my SL20X. It's pretty good, but I'm getting the same power out of the Protac HL I just bought that's 1/10th the size. I'm going to sell off the SL20X, year old battery, and Terralux upgrade to pay for another Protac. The SL20X just sat at the bottom of a bag, even after I spent $50 on a new battery last year. I broke the Terralux LED dropin for my old Stinger XT (which is why I bought the Stinger HL). Single drop = no more work.

I haven't used it enough to give you an answer. Plus I'm on swings so I don't spend the whole shift in the dark. It's gone 2 weeks on my limited needs without recharging, however.

I was looking for a new flashlight to replace my discontinued Surefire 9N..
I looked at Surefire's new offering for a rechargeable, but I can't justify buying a flashlight that costs as much as a firearm..
