Acehound... you should really stop now..
LEO is a professional job on and off duty.. you are lacking that part right now.

It took me little over 5 years to get hire.. military background with accounting degree.
It takes time and patience...

It is like that with most large agencies right now. Dont be discouraged. As soon as the money is back again, they will start hiring folks....probabbly in June or July, unless they get grant money to do it sooner.

Every economist warns of bond market burst in April. I would bet that they'd have to secure grant to hire. It may or may not effect public safety hiring.

That's ridiculous. I hope you don't respect your department. Unless it was your fault (failiing tests, shady background, etc.)

A law enforcment officer or deputy is an at-will employee. True, LEO's are held to a higher standard than the general public. They are supposed to be the leaders...be able to de-escalate sitiations...and keep a cool head under stress...but, they are not joining a secret society of the elite.

Take a look at the people that have been hired in the past by LASD. Shaved heads and tatted up, harrassing inmates, being member of gangs, getting DUI's and Domestic Battery charges, etc. Something needs to change. You can take a look at basically any corporation that treats its employees with dignity and respect and you will find a FAR less number of disgruntled employees.

Probably DQ'd for spelling...

So tell me, why did you want to work for LASD if that's the way you feel about them? Or is this backlash because you didn't get hired?

**CBR_rider** · 02-28-2013, 4:24 PM

What do DUI's, DV's, and "harassing inmates" have to do with being disgruntled?

Also, I'm not an at-will employee.

I think anyone could understand your frustration at being given a conditional offer only to have it rescinded. But you know what? That's life. I can't imagine how you are going to act if you ever get hired on somewhere and someone less qualified gets promoted over you. It's not right, but it happens. You build a bridge and get over it. LEO jobs are extremely competitive right now; sounds like your agency ran out of money/got a smaller grant or tax income than expected, found something else out in your background they didn't like, or found more qualified candidates.

As a side note, you should really read up on LEO's getting canned for things they post off-duty online or other things they do off duty that aren't criminal. It's certainly not a "secret society" but if you really want to be LEO it will become your life.

Stop blaming agencies for unforeseen financial situations

I continue to be surprised by those who join this site and create signatures under their avatars promoting Constitutional rights and freedom, yet their views are those of mindless, drooling robots with no ballz.

Those who will sacrifice freedom for a little security deserve neither freedom nor security.

I continue to be surprised by those who join this site and create avatars promoting drug use and expect to be hired as a law enforcement officer......

Anybody want to start a pool on whether or not he still lives at home, never had a steady girlfriend, has limited education and no steady job?

We could use it as a warm up for the upcoming March Maddness brackets.
