I am planning to give the new Troy mags a go. I've never seen a Troy product that wasn't first rate

Nobody mentioned H&K yet. They make a great AR-15/M-16 magazine. They make it for the H&K 416. The follower stays flat, smooth flat black finish. VERY expensive, only downfall. My Dept has thousands of Colt mags.

Had a failure to feed in a REAL shooting. Responding to a nut busting caps with a 7mm Rem Mag. Thankfully I was not under fire, was at my trunk, let go of the charging handle and 1st round nosed down into the mag. Probably due to the old Colt mag, tossed it.

X2. I have one that I acquired a few months back. The build quality is outstanding. The follower is on rollers so it feeds like warm butter spreads.

What's a good source to purchase the HK mag?

              +1 for P-mags...
I have shot over thousands of rounds through P-mags during my military service and it worked flawlessly.

I recommend 20 round pmags loaded with 18 rounds for patrol use.

Midway has them on sale for $46 until the end of the month.

Pmags!!! I think the aluminum mags are just as reliable with the magpul rebuild kits.

                          Pmags

HK mags are fine but will rust if not properly taken care of.

I have no aversion to plastic (Steyr AUG mags made me a believer). However, I do have a stack of GIs from my first AR. 1/2 have been rebuilt with anti-tilt followers and +5% springs, the other half will get rebuilt with magpuls.

                              P-Mags are my choice.

I have about a dozen P-Mags both from the department and from buying them on my own. Love them....still have some old GI mags...but they are collecting dust.
