Glock 22 / Ruger LCP. They aren't anything exciting, but they are reliable and work well for me."In a society, it is the responsibility of the few strong to protect the many weak"

A 40 watt plasma handgun for on duty use and a laser for back up and off duty would be my preference if I was still in le.
When I was in patrol, the duty weapon was the issued 92f and my backup/off duty was a S&W Model 60 5 shot revolver. The dept. at the time was very limited in what they allowed for off duty/back up. The Cougar was allowed, but not the Mini-Cougar which was more concealable. I believe most carried a revolver off duty an for a back up. I don't know what they allow now, being gone so long.Comment

I really missed the Model 19 or 66 the last years I was on.... and the Model 36 dropped in the front pocket of the trousers.
At the end I was a very content Sig guy.... P226 .40 on the road and a P230 for back up / off duty.

Old School........
Smith & Wesson Model 66 4" barrel in a HOYT breakfront with a 12 degree reverse cant. Fastest drawing holster out there...
Smith & Wesson Model 60 with a 2" barrel in a pocket holster.
I always felt good with that combination and that Model 66 got me thru two gunfights. I will never get rid of that gun. While I carried the 92f longer, I never had the confidence with it that I did my revolver, nor did I shoot it as well.
For semi auto, I'd have to say my P2000 as my duty and my Smith & Wesson Model 669.
Then again, I never met a gun I didn't like.LASD Retired

On duty is my Beretta 92F w/ surefire light. Nothing fancy, but I'm comfortable with it, and it gets the job done.
On duty back up is a Smith & Wesson Airweight Revolver. Again, nothing fancy but it goes bang everytime.
Off duty is my HK P2000. Small enough to be comfortable while concealed, yet large enough to hold 14 rounds of nine milimeter.
Originally posted by E Pluribus UnumDuring Y2K my neighbor and I were talking and he said he had a basement full of water and canned food. He asked if I had stocked up and I said that I had. I told him I bought a 12 guage shotgun, a .308 rifle and several bricks of .22 ammo.
He is an anti-gun guy and he said. "Well, you can't eat ammunition". I replied with "When I'm starving to death with a case of ammunition, who's door do you think I am going to knock on?"Comment
