    Rookies tv show

If any you guys are FTOs/ are currently in the FT phase, i advise you to watch a show called ' Rookies' which showcases new hires going through the FT phase. You'll learn alot of excellent advice of the do's and dont's.

You watch it on netflix or A&E with ads.

Check out A&E's shows lineup. Find show info, videos, and exclusive content on A&E

As a former FTO and 32 year veteran of LE, don't believe anything you see on TV as being real.

I watched all the episodes, but i know it's not a accurate source 100% for info. However some of it is really good, Tampa PD FTO's were discussing about maneuvering a patrol car at angle so you can re-treat and use the engine block as cover. Another was approaching a building, saying that you should never stack up near entry ways or windows, limiting your exposure time is the key. When searching a suspect, you should never take your hands off him completely. As they might take that lack of physical contact as a opportunity to run.

It shows how some recruits, just freeze up when they get to a incident and become more a bystander than being proactive and interviewing witnesses and suspects.

Overall, it's a pretty good series i think.

So we agree it's a good source of what not to do!

Absolutely! I sometimes look at the episodes of COPS that I was on and look at how they were creatively edited, always doing their best to make us look good. You will notice that you never hear an officer swearing. They always "sweeten" the final version. Their editors are very good. They can take the phrase, "Put your F**** hands behind your back" and make it, "Put your hands behind your back" without a glitch in the sound. I know firsthand.

Rookies is a real good show to watch, not sure if there's a new season playing but few years ago i watched the episode with rookie officer Josh Norris who was killed in the line of duty responding to a domestic violence call, it was a pretty emotional to watch that episode. Officer Norris had so much potential and would of gone far with his career. I recommend you all to watch that episode if you haven't yet already did.

+1. I actually enjoy the Rookies show more than COPS.

Entertainment, yes. Realistic, sometimes. Tactics I'd bet my life on, never.
