Didn't Jerry Brown want to close all private prisons and stick the level 1 and 2 inmates in county jail?

I graduate from the STC corrections academy on Monday.

Closing the private prisons wouldn't make to much since from my understanding of how they cost less to operate, but we are in California.

Riflelover, What's your age? Do you have any military background? Working Corrections, whether state or private can be very trying. I've got 13 years in the Dept. (CDCR), and if there's any advice I would give, it would be to learn to communicate, be consistant, fair, and honest. Sounds old-fashioned, but its worked for me and most of my partners. Seems like the only ones being walked off are female officers doing inmates, or cell phone salesmen. Being able to talk with the scumbags is one of the best weapons you can have. Being able to do your 8 and hit the gate...safely every day, you'll suceed. Just my .02

I'm actually only 21 with no military experience. I used to ride with local deputies all the time and conversations about working in the jails always came up. Every deputy I talked to pretty much said the same thing. Even though most of them are scumbags treat them as grown men and they will typically do the same thing.

According to a former prison warden I have the ability to talk to people properly which is why he said he would give me a recommendation if I went and applied to a prison system.
