window tint

The sun shade is nice, but the main reason I miss mine is all the douchbags on the road who enjoy shining their headlights right into my mirrors. All three of them at the same time. Luckily the back window has 5% (limo) tint, so I can still bear the inside mirror, but I can't ever see out of my side mirrors without going blind. At least with 30% on the side windows I could bear having the mirrors actually pointed behind me. Now I just move both side mirrors to where I can't see behind me so I can actually see in front of me. Yeah, the tint laws make driving so much safer!

lol crap. I pretty much hate driving without tint. The sun really bothers me.In my case, when I refused on 4th amendment grounds I was first threatened with arrest for "not following a lawful order" then was told how lucky I was that I didn't get thrown in jail
. Then I got a "non-correctable" violation that basically meant I was forced to pay the ~$200 fine but wasn't forced to remove the tint. I did anyway since I paid all of 20 bucks for it.
From what I understand, LEOs are allowed the discretion to choose between a $10 "correctable" ticket that you have to either pay or take the tint off and get it signed off, or writing a $200 "non-correctable" ticket that you have to pay whether or not you still have the tint on.
The law is bullcrap, and the common reasoning (excuse) is that it's for "officer's safety" which is also a load, because anybody can see everything in a car with even down to 30% tint on the front windows.Leave a comment:

What happens if you refuse to pull up your window or say it doesn't work?I see a lot of cars rolling around with the windows down lately in the cold when I park at the intersection waiting for a California roll. I know why they do it but I don't really care. If I t-stop one and they have an attitude, I ask them roll up the window and I ding them as need be.Leave a comment:

Can't. There is no medical exemption in the vehicle code for window tint, and a doctors note has absolutely zero legal meaning. IF there is a medical necessity, the VC does authorize a driver to use a "removable sun shade" provided that it is removed during vehicle operation at night, refer to 26708(a)(10) CVC:
(10) Sun screening devices meeting the requirements of Section 26708.2 installed on the side windows on either side of the vehicle’s front seat, if the driver or a passenger in the front seat has in his or her possession a letter or other document signed by a licensed physician and surgeon certifying that the person must be shaded from the sun due to a medical condition, or has in his or her possession a letter or other document signed by a licensed optometrist certifying that the person must be shaded from the sun due to a visual condition. The devices authorized by this paragraph shall not be used during darkness.

RE: TINT
Get a prescription from your doctor for window tint. Dermatologists know exactly what to write down. Sun exposure causes skin cancer.

I've been stopped numerous times specifically for window tint. They all end with the officer saying they just wanted to see who was in the car and a few compliment me on it. Last I saw, it is now a $178 ticket in Orange County. Absolutely ridiculous in my opinion, especially when it was $10 a couple years ago.Leave a comment:

Bingo, Stay the hell out of my business and I will stay out of yours. I feel it is extra insurance for those of us with excess AV equipment.
My rear windows have factory 20% privacy glass, and the whole truck has 5% on all the windows. The windshield has 75%
I think I will be getting 20-30% applied over the limo on the front to match up with the rear windows.

Its a $129 fine and you don't have to take it off. I get tickets about every 6 months but I like having the tint. No one can see what you have sitting in your car when its parked or if anyone is even sitting in it.Leave a comment:

@choprz...
DMV doesn't inspect squat.
They verify the VIN of out of state vehicles and verify engine type so they know if the file needs to be flagged for smog checks.
They can barely do the VIN check correctly. I've had to correct them on multiple occasions when they have mis-read stamped numbers.Leave a comment:

lrchops. i can respect your position, I find the charge being the only charge to be quite frivolous. running for warrants and such, yah, I agree even if someone has multiple tint tickets that ticketing would be somewhat ok, but, then again, why is any officer giving a ticket for just tint in the first place, for them to have multiple tint tickets? oh i remember........self deleted the rest of what i wrote.....i'll stop again now

I left the PD for this reason. I had internal conflict. The admin didn't really care for all the felony dope arrests, felony warrant arrests, 10851 pursuits, head crackin, and all the effective cop work,,,they wanted TICKETS!!! I call BS.
I have been with my current Sheriff's Dept. for 16 years now and don't have to deal with that insulting BS. At the Sheriff's Dept. they like good arrests and good community LE work! It's on and Crackin at the Sheriff's Dept!!!!!!Leave a comment:

Well said.Pet Peeves should be reserved for the black eyes on society. I just see too many LEO's getting hung up on the frivolous infraction citation thing!! The practice of writing tickets is another form of tax levied on the community. Of course there are those traffic offenders who must be cited for blatent violations that are dangerous and hazardous,,and there are those who just talk themselves right into the ticket based on lies and poor attitude. For the most part I cannot get any job satisfaction out of stabbing a good honest tax paying citizen. My job satisfaction comes from arresting bad guys and helping the community by eliminating the black eyes!Leave a comment:
