This is not your typical police shooting article. Read how many fatal hits the bad guy took and how long he fought.

The article reinforces the common misconception that we are fed on a daily basis through movies, Television and the media when a person is shot. So much misinformation that we are bombarded with daily that some of us start to believe it.
The real life actuality is a Human can take quite a bit of mortal trauma and keep fighting. It is all dependent on the mind set of the person before the body finally shuts down. If you want to see some amazing examples, read some of the citations to our Soldiers who have been awarded the CMH, posthumously.
L/E firearm instructors have the duty to train personnel about the real life facts, in a deadly force option. "Shoot until the threat stops" has been the mantra for a number of years now.
L/E takes a lot of heat by the public in deadly force incidents over how many shots were fired etc. There is a lot of monday morning Quartebacking done.
Having been involved in deadly force incidents, I keep an open mind and have the "unless you were there" attitude before taking a knee jerk judgement about an incident.Comment

one on one and the guy had a seventeen round mag with only one round left. guess he didn't get the memo that ten round mags are all you need.PSN name= entwie_dumaylaOriginally posted by 2761377man's greatest accomplishments have been achieved in the face of futility.

There aren't significant differences between 9mm and .45 if you use good ammo:
Dr. Roberts is one of the most authoritative guys out there with respect to wound ballistics.
Relevant quote:
NONE of the common service pistol calibers generate temporary cavities of sufficient magnitude to cause significant tissue damage.... Keeping in mind that handguns generally offer poor incapacitation potential, bullets with effective terminal performance are available in all of the most commonly used duty pistol calibers—pick the one that you shoot most accurately, that is most reliable in the type of pistol you choose, and best suits you likely engagement scenarios.Comment

IMO the whole point is a motivated attacker will continue his assault until his body is unable to support it.
The same was true in '86 Miami."Bruen, the Bruen opinion, I believe, discarded the intermediate scrutiny test that I also thought was not very useful; and has, instead, replaced it with a text history and tradition test." Judge Benitez 12-12-2022

You be surprise how people can still fight after getting shot by 5.56 and 7.62 caliber. The mind set of individual plays big role and I believe 9mm is good caliber in my opinion. Only caliber I ever saw someone who does not get up after getting hit was 50cal.Comment

+1...if I can't use a shotgun with 00 or a rifle, I'm using the biggest caliber handgun I can get with the highest velocity rounds. I'm not saying this dude would've gone done on the first shot...but I'd be willing to bet the fight would've ended sooner if the LEO had a .40 or .45.Comment

That's not the case based on the data.+1...if I can't use a shotgun with 00 or a rifle, I'm using the biggest caliber handgun I can get with the highest velocity rounds.
