Long ago and faraway, the Acad. reloaded all our practice...We shot that way for years and years...

Then change came and we shot revolving different each time, combat, target and shotgun...The ammo for carry while on duty was something came up also...

CHP had a real horrible shooting at Jays Coffee shop, they practiced with 38 ammo wadcutter, in their 357s and when it came to real life shooting, with 357 ammo, they all ended up making many mistakes, and dying on that day...

So all agencies did some changing...

Now I am not sure what is happening, but I know LAPD does a lot of shooting where others don't...Up here in Sacramento area they don't shoot monthly more like every 6 or so...Pretty sad to be honest...

As far as taxpaying goes, we all do that... The cost, for dead officers is pretty high, if I was active, I'd be shooting as much or more than I did back then...I practice more than a lot of depts do for their active guys..WTF

      Regards

Its admin that say "we don't have the budget therefore we cant train. Cut back make it last."

Yeah it pisses us off. Is it the chiefs fault when hes told by the city manager what to do?

Do we just suck it up and spend our $$ to buy ammo that's sky high to train?

        What's the answer? Don't know. I'm lucky I reload I guess.

          1- for target shooting?
          2- for duty?
          3- take home?
4- Also can you use your own ammo for duty?
          Thanks guys/gals be safe
1- yes, on range days for qualifying
2- yes, ammo is provided for duty use
3- not for personal use. But the rangemaster can usually get us a good deal on ammo through various distributors.
4- absolutely not. My dept actually uses pretty good ammo in our weapons anyway. I try to use the same ammo in my off duty weapons if possible.
