During the "study" they will be instructed to pull over only specific violations...non movers. During day time hours only. Not ask any investigatory questions. Stats will be padded for sure.

Can they be armed just on duty like some LEO jobs? Of course they have to be trained for it anyways.

Oh yeah, this will end well.

Can't wait for the day we only go on two calls per day, let the social workers and traffic civilians handle the rest

I'm not LEO. I'm sorry to read this discussion because I'm not sure I can or not. I just feel sorry for all the good working hard LEO, that the whole situation make all LEO look bad. There is just one percent of bad LEO that make the rest look bad. Please be courage, stay strong and serve from the good heart.

They already drive like azzhats over there, traffic laws seem to be just a suggestion not a rule that must be followed. It will turn into third world driving now.

As a NON LEO making these stops, how are they supposed to run out a plate? Need to know-Right to know....They are going to give out registered owners info to anyone? Or PFN information, I think not

                          My guess:

Depending on what the civilian worker is doing, they will probably be allowed to get the expiration & registered owner's info.

If the car is stolen or has some sort of want, dispatch will probably give the civilian worker some sort of "secret" code to let the car go & leave the area.

This whole civilian traffic stopper crud is going to take years to figure out. Good luck, Berkeley.

The workman's comp attorneys are going to be the ultimate winners in this fiasco.

Our cities code enforcement runs plates all the time.
