LoL some of u are obviously morons and u know who u are. Observe and report..and walk away from an illegally armed drunk guy LOL...and there it is ..why clients and citizens hate security..just bilking clients while u sleep on the job. That's how Vegas happened.

Thanks to the real dudes for the responses. The rest are a joke so...

Scary for me going from customer service mode to gun mode. I don't care what some subject says..Officer safety first right?
So let me see if I get this right , you took it upon yourself to take a firearm off a subject because he was drunk and urinating on your property . First question is : what do your post orders say ? next comes company Policy , what does it say ?

Understand that the second you decide to "confiscate" property and perform an arrest you put yourself and your company at risk . I have not read where you demonstrated that the person was a imminent threat to you .

He was a nuisance for sure but he was not presenting a threat to you , however you chose a course of action that could have resulted in a confrontation . As a Security Officer it is your job to avoid that and to contact Law Enforcement and be a good witness , Observe and Report !

My nephew works as security guard, one of his assignments was at a pay to play college. One night a guy walks onto campus looking for his girlfriend. He finds her, drags her out of a classroom and starts thumping her. Observe and report? Let her take a beating for nine minutes? Get dragged off somewhere? I think if OP works internal security the rules of engagement could be different than contracted security.

There is a huge difference between a girl taking a beating and a drunk guy urinating . In the case of the drunk guy urinating there is no immediate risk to anyone , OP didn't know at first contact that the drunk guy was armed .
Therefor his actions are dictated by Post Orders and Company Policy .

Most Security Companies adopt a hands off policy mostly due to the high cost of Liability Insurance , Workers Compensation and litigation .

Now if a case can be made that there was imminent risk to health then the actions could be justified even for a private citizen .
