Price Gouging

I use to sell a couple guns a year and always priced them fairly, never a huge mark up. Now I don’t want to deal with it anymore, too many issues. It’s just not worth it, I’ll just leave them in the safe. If I do sell any of my off rosters it would most likely only be to LEO’s.

Your own quote says it all. Buying a firearm giving it to a person not legally eligible to own one..

Ex: Exempt person buying the firearm and selling it to you. You not eligible to purchase it on your own.

While I agree that cops should never break the law, nor take advantage of gun sales as described by the OP. However there is a flip side to all this. Why on earth are morons fueling this black market and buying those guns at those outrageous prices to begin with????? Those are the ones fueling the buying and selling in this underground illegal trade. So who’s the real fool here?? It takes two to tango.

I too am frustrated with price gouging in any form. However I do not see any upside to LE losing their current privilege of buying off roster guns. The roster is the problem. If the roster should cease to exist, then people who have overpaid will still have the gun they value so much and their "cool" status will drop. Then the rest of us will enjoy the freedom of choosing whichever gun we want. When the "cool" status wears off of $400 Glocks most will again appreciate beautifully made artisan pieces.

I really do appreciate the thought. However market value is set by the market participants....buyers and sellers. If people are knowledgeable and willing to pay the asking prices, or anywhere near, then that defines fair market value. After all, if people don't pay after adequate listing exposure....then the firearm is not worth the asking price.

I think the gripe is with the restrictive state/system that has created the submarket we live in. That is the true problem. Also in fairness to LEOs; there's plenty of civilians doing the same thing with firearms they acquired through the SSE and alike.

The market dictates value.

“Victims”???? Nobody forced you to open up your wallet and fork-out an exorbitant price on a product once pre-owned and is now in a quasi “black market” state of affairs.

Again, it take TWO people to make the “black market” exist in the first place. If you’re part of that equation (buyer or seller), then own your share of the responsibility.

As far as politicians making these dumb laws, well I agree it sucks. But that’s the laws we have to live with, no matter what side of populous you’re on. That’s the sad reality of it all. But don’t blame just one side of the transaction here (the “seller” as you allude to). For the seller wouldn’t exist if there wasn’t a willing participant (buyer) in the ritual.

Never alluded to blaming the seller. There's always demand and supply no matter what. It's simple economics, it's never just "well then don't buy it." The world doesn't work that way.
