I have a list my tax guy gave me of things to write off. Unfortunately it's on my work email and I don't have access from home. If I remember tomorrow, I will post the list on here. My tax guy is an attorney as well he said gym memberships are write offs, sunglasses, some departments like mine for example consider a watch part of your uniform, it's in out GO's. Also, cell phones and cell phone bills are as well.

          ....they're for training purposes right?

I have heard that you should not write off haircuts etc if your department gives you a "uniform allowance" which should cover dry cleaning etc.

I have heard of guys even writing off razors and shaving cream.

Safety equipment, safety training, safety supplies, local Sheriff deems it is appropriate in my line of work to be armed for my safety.

I still feel pretty confident that if I wrote off all the guns, ammo, and related supplies that I've purchased this calendar year, and was audited, that I would have a very big problem. Ron says it sounds dumb, but...better dumb than incarcerated!
