East ender here also. A year or so ago a few got out to Thermal in less than a year. I would expect 5 years so you dont get jaded when it happens. I personally did just under 2 years in the jail, but I got out almost 15 years ago so alot has changed. I believe hiring has slowed down. If they offer you correctional deputy, take it. Work it for a year and reapply as a dep. Also, consider applying for sso or cso. Get your foot in the door, wait a year and reapply as a dep. You could even apply as a dispatcher , do the year and reapply as a dep. Basically, get your foot in the door any way you can.
