I've been in Prescott since Feb of this year and love it. Where's that lake in the first pic located?

Glad the move worked out. I took a couple of road trips to Prescott in July. Picked-up a couple of Gunsite Pistols on my first trip (wife was visiting in CA).

I came back the following week with my wife and looked at new homes.

I'd loved to move there, but we just got settled South of Tucson. Plus my wife's daughter and two grand kids are in this area.

I picked-up this nice LB Thunder Ranch from Bucky O'Neill's on my second trip. Great shop & friendly staff.

And I picked-up this Toyota 4x4 to get me to my Desert shooting spot. Pic was taken in Pine Top.

I saw the writing on the wall in CA back in 89 and bailed to FL then. Came back here to AZ about 6 mos ago so the other half could be close to fam up in Bend OR. I'm an old fart and cant stand snow and cold so I'm happy here in Peoria. Far enough out and close enough in. So far so good, some nice folks here and already know a bunch of neighbors. Mostly cause I didn't arrive with CA tags.

So 4 months ago I left OC California for the Arizona mountains in Chino Valley (15 minutes outside Prescott, Arizona).
The Mrs and I are targeting 3/2022 as retirement/escape date and we (well, mostly I) are intrigued by the Chino Valley, Prescott/PV and Dewey area. We haven't been there in person, but will be giving it a reconn maybe this summer or next. Based just on what I've been able to glean, it seems to have an old-style, western-like feel, and the spaciousness (for lack of a better term) is really appealing.

We've already laid eyes on W/SW Idaho with Marsing and Homedale as our most preferred, but I keep casting covetous eyes on your locale. Maybe it's the little kid wannabe cowboy or whatever, but it just seems really nice.

I've seen lots of the hair bun, tight pants wearing dudes in that area especially around center Prescott and Sedona. Very Dimocrap liberal county. Check their voting record.

Yep. Natives arent happy about it.

I know what it's like. I saw CA get infiltrated and f-d up by outsiders.

Gotta find a place that thin-skinned kooks can't handle. That's my exit plan when I retire... and I'm telling no one. It's a jinx when you tell.

I only go up to Prescott for the VA hosp as needed. That's the only area I see up there and looks to be lot of libs to me. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong areas. Everybody in the fed govt is up for election this year. We'll see what happens then. Lesco is my rep and she seems pretty solid. Things seem to be changing here.

Lesko has the right ideas but is a little dingy.

I lost a faith when Ward didnt gain traction for Senate.

Any Californian thst moved here and doesnt apologize for being from there - is the wrong one. That's how you know if you've met one of the good ones or not.

She is a tad dingy, but works pretty hard for us vets. She'll get my vote.
I am seeing a lot of CA tags all around here. I don't know if there just passing thru or what. Hope we don't get kalifornicated.
