Sorry for the long post....
So 4 months ago I left OC California for the Arizona mountains in Chino Valley (15 minutes outside Prescott, Arizona). I had lived in SoCal for the last ~20 years and I don't regret the move one bit.
My thoughts on the whole "run or stay and fight" argument: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...&postcount=103
We are still learning about the area, but we are pretty settled into the new house I had built. Everyone we've met so far has been super friendly. People say, "please" and "thank you" here. We just had our first seasonal snow and I forgot how much I loved the snow. I love the fact that we can go to the mountains or downtown shopping in Prescott on a whim.
The woman of the house loves it as well as her 5-year-old daughter who goes to one of the best schools in the country (It's a public BASIS charter school). After about 2 months of me being out here, my son decided to move out here permanently so that was just icing on the cake. Previously I tried to convince him to move out here, but he wanted to attend college in SoCal while staying at his mom's (he graduated HS this year). He will be attending the county college here and taking courses that transfer to ASU.
Got my CCW in 2 weeks even though you don't need a permit to conceal here (I had one in OC for the last 6 years); which allows me to buy from a FFL without a background check. I can basically have any gun I want in my hand in about 5 minutes from Brandon down at Tombstone Tactical; which is 5 minutes from my house along with Vangcomp. Open carry is fairly common here in this area and I have done it a few times out of convenience.
This is Trump country (and RAM truck country), but you still see people with Bernie stickers. Everyone seems to get along though. Live and let live seems to be the motto here. I know my UPS driver and mail lady by name. I already know my neighbors here better than the neighbors I had in SoCal the last 10 years. James, who lives across the street, is special forces from the Vietnam era and we greet each other with "Airborne!". Lots of retired military types here. Mike, who has an old resto-mod F series truck with 600hp, is a great neighbor too. His wife brought over some pot roast for us after I helped them with some tech stuff. I have tons of stories like this from the great people we've met.
Here are some random pics of mostly truck and gun stuff. All of these pics are within ~30 minutes from my house.
