Someone told me the stolen valor act only applies to people who lie about service and receive some kind of gain.

This one is going to jail because he used his fake service to claim expertise he didn't have.

That story made me giggle. Nothing better than seeing one get pinned to the wall.

As far as the Rangers go...seems like every Ranger to ever have served is on every gun forum on the internet. If you feel the need to tell me about how you were SGT Slaughter, U.S. Army Ranger via the internet, I'll be compelled to tell you all about my cats personality.

Wow! Quite a story there. He inspired the movie "Taken" from his lies?

That's on them. Yea, he lied about his military past, but he also lied about his academic one, and when an Academic Institution doesn't even check academic credentials of their teaching staff, well, they are simply lazy.

At least it wasn't the DLI down the road.

Thats probably what that Air Force guy to the side is looking at. Something as simple as a salute can give it away.

I had a personal experience with someone who was claiming to be a Ranger and having served in Mogadishu (sp) during the "Blackhawk Down" episode.

We were at an event and Col. McKnight and Sgt. Mullen were there. He talked to them like they were old friends. When he walked away, they were both saying "Do you know that guy? I don't remember him." With a little research, it was exposed that this person was never in the Rangers. Needless to say, I don't talk to this D-bag anymore.
I do remember this incident very well... MSG Mullens posted an email to iron things out with the two parties and those affected by the incident.

I am kinda proud of my silver "E"s for rifle & pistol tho.

I've already picked which ones I can get, and I could have 4 ribbons this time next year and 10 by the time I'm out without having really to do anything, but show up, and not break anything.

Now, I've seen some former SF types that gain a little pudge after they leave service. What get's me about this guy is that he appears to be the youngest looking SEAL CAPTAIN in the history of the service.

                                Plus his salute is FUBAR.
