Are military recruits issued a stress card they can present to drill sergeants who are giving them a hard time?

I had to temp.disable my popup blocker.

I wish could be there when you try to pull the "stress card" crap with a DI. You will be the laughing stock... you are an idiot... there is no such thing.

Thank you DesertRat. That means a lot knowing that its coming from a Marine.

From listening to some 2nd Lieutenants at my OSO office every Marine is supposed to be a monster and have an ego

I wont be a crappy soldier i listen to authority and never talk back to officers, just cause i did weed dont mean im a bad person
Never called you one for smoking weed. Many great Soldiers I've served with pulled their share of "youthful experimentation" dumbarsery. Alright, so you're confident you won't quit, great. Now do what you have to do and let's see what comes out of it then.

To the OP: Intel fields require you to be clear and concise with your communcations - written and oral. You really need to put some effort into that. Take your time and work on some of the stuff you'll need - try to bulk up a bit, stay limber, work on your running and conditioning.

It took me over a year before I could get past MEPS and get to Parris Island for boot camp. My problem? Zits on my back - or in MEPS terms, cystic acne. When I asked the chief medical officer why he continued to disqualify me, he told me that recruits would cry out of bootcamp due to the discomfort of the things being irritated by packs. I was a firefighter at the time, and wore heavy equipment and breathing apparatus - but he would give me no quarter and kept me on a runaround (have to be on medication, have to be off medication for a certain amount of time with a clear back, blah, blah blah).

After about half a year of this, I was expecting to ship to bootcamp. I had quit (notice, no "e") my job, said goodbye to my family, and he popped off yet another one of his excuses. We passed some heated words back and forth, and I really don't recall everything that happened - I was raging beyond my ability to stay in control. The next thing I recall is being in the Marines office at MEPS with my medical records in my hands, and trying to explain to the staff there why I was so wound up. They spent a huge amount of time ensuring I wasn't permanently DQ'd, and forbade me from even looking at the guy again.

After this I gave up, and went back to my job. Six months later I received a call from my recruiter asking how my back was, and if I still wanted in. I was clear, and said sure I'd go in - turns out my med records expired, and they are tossed out - nothing remained of the details, and officially, my problem never existed. That next week I was whisked through MEPS (by this time I knew everyone there) for my physical, passed, and was on my way to Parris Island the next day.

To JerryM or other Army intel bubbas - what's a 35M? Is that interrogation type of stuff, OOB stuff, CI, ... ? I was CI in the Marines, but I just don't understand how you guys operate on the intel side (back then, I knew you had intel folks in CI that came outta bootcamp/intel school - we had to have at least an enlistment and be a Sgt).

This kid can't spell, punctuate, use correct grammar, or convey any concepts at all without buggering the English language. The last thing I want in my military is someone involved in anything sensitive where clear, concise communication is required.

                            11B or nothing.

Do you believe everything your recruiter tells you?

Now don't get me wrong, I did 9 years in he service and I'm proud of it. I'm 3rd generation Army, and hope my son becomes 4th. But one thing I can tell you (and probably every other former SM here on Calguns will say the same thing) is this - don't believe what your recruiter tells you. They are notorious for lying, cheating, and doing absolutely whatever they feel they have to do, to fill their quotas. Whatever they tell you, whatever they promise you, get it in writing or it didn't happen. Sure there's some honest ones out there, but I've known a lot of "really great guys" who didn't cut the mustard.
