I apologize. Thats what the army guys were saying at MEPS, but they do say a lot of things

No need to apologize man, no harm done. Just trying to mitigate misinformation, that's all. Some of the sharpest people I've met in my whole life were in the Army.

The thing about rumors is that they are easily perpetrated in an institution like the military because people are so willing to believe it. "Well back in my day, we didn't have these hippie stress cards. You young troops have it easy!" and whatnot. I was told by somebody who had "BTDT" that by the time I went to basic (I went in 04) that it would be like summer camp. They were most certainly WRONG. Basic training had to be the hardest thing I've ever done in my life.

A little bit of a semantics argument there, but no. Once you swear in, and get on that bus, and start receiving a government check, you are technically a soldier. Though untrained and totally green. I know, I know, not as glamorous as the USMC and their post-crucible pinning ceremony.

AIT is where you learn your MOS skill.

Uh, no. Sounds like this "really great guy" who's your recruiter isn't doing you any favors by not even teaching you the simplest things to expect.

Basic Training provides you with the primary skills to be a soldier such as Drill & Ceremony, PT (a lot of PT), and marksmenship. Lot's of little things too such as your general orders, first aid, rank and insignia, and so forth. They will tear you down and build you back up again and train you to be a soldier. AIT provides you with specialized "career" type training.

Yeah, this is most certainly true, the only thing is,these cards are a well kept secret and You have to bring Your own from home signed by Your Mommy, only then is it a legitimate Stress card. All You have to do is keep it in Your left breast pocket and at any time You "feel" stressed just whip it out and say "Sir,I'm too stressed to train at this time" and bammo! training stress will be reduced.

Lets think about this,The whole point of Basic training is to turn a person into a basically trained Soldier and a member of the finest Army in the world. So the premise of the stress card it to reduce stress when a DI gets knee deep it Your 6.Now do You think that this is a good way to train up a Young man into a warrior?By telling Him that if it hurts, just quit.Or is it more likely that a young person will be trained in a high stress environment,so when the SHTF,one can instinctivley react.and keep His cool under real stress,Like maybe the Taliban warrior trying His best to kill You or the other members in Your squad.If/when You do make it,You will hear this alot,"Fight how we train, train how We fight"I guess My point is,there are no time outs or do overs in this Life You are thinking about taking on.It is real so please take it serious.
