AIT is where the girls lose their patience and need to get laid. There's a lot of sneaking around that goes on.

When I was in the Army ('71 - '74), we all got a short leave between basic and AIT. I did my basic at Fort Ord and then spent a day or so with my folks before flying out to Fort Sam in Texas.

However, women were a rare sight while I was in basic. 'Quite another thing when I got to Texas.

Fraternizing of any kind during IET is strictly prohibited under TRADOC rules/regs. Enforcement by DS's and Cadre is something very different. Your are not supposed to fraternize or engage in that type of relationship-type conduct until you are considered "permanent party" which happens after you get out of AIT and PCS to your first duty station.
This is very true. I met my wife while I was in AIT at Ft Huachuca. She was permanent party and I got a company grade Article 15 when some blue falcon ratted me out. I didnt give a crap and was going out again with her the next weekend.

Sik, you probably dont have to worry about fraternization rules unless you get a six pack.

I should mention that I saw a lot of AIT and just Army couples fail miserably during my enlistment. My marriage wasn't based exclusively on the things those marriages were like: BAH, sex, getting out of the barracks, partying and drinking together...etc but instead has been based on raising a family together and loving God. It also helps that we are both homebodies so I dont have to worry about where the wife is and what shes doing almost ever (and vice versa). Also, neither of us drink or smoke/dip which probably helps

The purpose of marriage is for companionship and traditionally, someone to raise a family with although lots of couples today dont have kids, but at least the companionship part is still necessary. If your marriage wasn't started for that, or hasn't become that, then your relationship is on shaky ground. Most of the soldiers I knew that got divorced did it because one or both weren't in that frame of mind and weren't willing to sacrifice their fun and friends for their spouses.

Even if I went to boot camp at Paris Island, I can't think when I would have had time in my day to get a girlfriend. Hell, I barely had time to write the fire watch roster.

Oh my god, I got stuck with that God Damn job. No one could just to their f-ing watch and be f-ing done with it.

The best time slot was the first one or last one.

I kept all the rosters as historical record because all the little f-er's wouldn't shut the F up about how they were getting screwed. One of the worst f-er's figured out that based on the number of us and the rotation that one or two people would be able to sleep through the entire night two times in a row.

He wanted to see the roster history, and I said, NO, F off. You'll get to see it when you take me down to the Drill SGT's office and we have him look over it. Needless to say he didn't want to do that. He wasn't the Drill SGT's favorite either.

He was right, but I had like 30 guys to keep track of, and I gave those that helped and volunteered the most the opportunity to sleep more. He simply was never going to get that perk.

Certainly isn't for the health coverage. My wife can't be seen for hardly anything without tricare saying she might need to pay a bunch of money...

I was surprised guys find girlfriends while in the service. I obviously don't have first hand experience but i was under the impression that most of the females in the military were quite, "butch?(not sure what the right word is)" I mean if dudes like that, I don't judge, go for it. But just looking at some of the female drill instructors in the Army from the videos, I don't find them attractive at all....
