Until yesterday, I thought that a BB was better than featureless or nothing. Then I got my hands on a compliance kit from Juggernaut Tactical. Damn, I think that is the way to go. Ditch the BB and just use this (link)!!!!.

That being said, I am still registering a few of my 80%.

This is the route I'm going with a few mods on the bolt release.

I bought the B.A.D. QRRTP unit for <$30. The Juggernaut looks sturdier and it's a complete kit. With the QRRTP, I've actually yanked the whole pin out, dislodging the detent pin, by twisting it the pin too far. Have you encountered any issues with the Juggernaut.
I'm not having a glass of wine, I'm having SIX. It's called a tasting and it's classy.

I have only played with the one at the shop. I have not installed it on my AR yet. Feels sturdy and high quality.

Same thing has happened to me with the QRRTP. It also doesn't always catch the upper so it swings away like a regular pin would. I'm not much of a fan, also looking at replacing with the juggernaut or similar.

Apparently after July 2019 if you have a firearm that does not have a CA DOJ assigned serial, you must apply for it and engrave the device:
you have to read all the parts of the law.
29181: Section 29180 does not apply to or affect any of the following:
              (c) A firearm which was entered into the centralized registry set forth in Section 11106 prior to July 1, 2018, as being owned by a specific individual or entity if that firearm has assigned to it a distinguishing number or mark of identification because the department accepted entry of that firearm into the centralized registry.

in the case of an 80%, that's not an option. Featureless saves you from AW registration, but not from general registration unfortunately. The law now requires all handguns (since '99? not sure), all long guns purchased after 2013, and all self-made firearms ever, to be registered. Period. The self-made ones, so far, are the only ones they are making people register retroactively.

Was rejected once because date format wasn't right (put 4/12/13 instead of the required 4/27/2013) . Resubmitted and someone from DOJ called me by phone to clarify that mine were going to be AW and not just registration of non AW homebuilds. I said yes, then a few days later a letter arrived with the numbers. Whole process, including rejection, resubmission, and numbers issued took 7 weeks. NOTE: One minor problem. If you have multiple guns of the same caliber and same model, you have to reference your initial application to figure out the order in which they were listed. This is the order in which the serial numbers are issued. Be sure to keep a copy of your original submission otherwise there would be no way to know which DOJ serial number applied to which gun.

Is this process like getting a new firearm when applying for serial? What's the hole process We have a time limit and what if you don't make the time limit?
