If your firearm engravings are not painted and hard to see in pics, I found a great thing to bring them out. Rub them with white chalk and litely rub the excess off. Looks great IMO. I will post pics later. I have a few sticks I can send out, send me a PM, PayPal gift $1.00 shipping included for the hassle.

Hey, I'm new to the CA gun laws so just want to make sure I understand things. Apologies if I'm a little confused but I'm starting to think the laws are that way by design...
- AW registration only pertains to rifles self-built or purchased before 1/1/2017?
- It is illegal to finish an 80% lower and assemble it into a working "Assault Weapon" (NO Bullet Button) after 1/1/2017. For instance, all new builds HAVE to start as MagLock or Featureless?
- Is an FFL restricted from building, assembling, owning a rifle classified as an AW?
- Is there a legal way to obtain a permit for owning a normal (as God intended) AR-style rifle in this state?Comment

If you are registering several on one application and one rifle holds up approval for the entire batch past 6/30/18, what happens to the others that are found acceptable?
Am I being paranoid for making sure all the ones being registered are safely out of state? Driving the last batch over the Rocky Mountains this morning. My poor brakes...sigpic

Some tips for joint registration
Got a wife, LTR or adult children at home? Best to have them joint registered as you may kick the bucket or may allow them unfettered access to the safe.
The person on the original DROS has to be the primary registrant. The info tends to be cross referenced with the post 2013 database.
If there are more than 1 joint registrant, the CRIS the joint registrants enter always refers to the primary registrant.
The system only allows joint registrants to start the process after the primary registrant completed and paid for his registration. No way to save the gun info into the Shopping Cart either.
It's easiest for joint registrant to have a copy the primary registrant's registration info in front of her or him and make sure all the pertinent info is identical. A model number of "Mk1" is not identical to "Mk-1" or "Mark1". "Sig556" is not the same as "Sig 556". People tend to have a different sense of color. What is black to one person may be grey to the other. "Israel" is not the same as "Israel Weapons Ind."
It's a huge advantage to save the primary registrant's completed application as a .pdf file to be easily viewed by the others. A large 27" monitor would also be nice to avoid toggling screens back and forth. This is where a desktop computer is nice.
I'm still unsure if the pictures have to be the identical ones that the primary registrant uses, but it's much easier and safer to use the same ones. I put pics of each rifle in a separate folder in the computer and re-label the pics, "entire rifle", "right side", "left side", "bullet button" and "extra". I also find it easiest for the joint registrant to use the same computer or tablet.
If the DOJ asks that the primary registrant's application to be changed, the others' also have to be changed. For instance, if the serial number is illegible on the primary registrant's picture and they ask for another pic, the joint registrants' applications also automatically change to allow them to change the picture in question. They do not necessarily get an email notifying them to change.
For Joint Registrant #2, he/she needs to also list Joint Registrant #3, #4, etc. in the comments. It seems that there is no need to list the Primary Registrant again in the comment.sigpic

Maybe some one has posted this already...
The .pdf on this thread suggest selecting "interchangeable barrels" for caliber. This won't fly, I don't even know why its an option. The DOJ requires you to pick a caliber. for 223/556, pick 556.
I went back and forth for 5 months before they approved. Most of the time is waiting for the DOJ to reply.

Having issues entering multiple firearms. Sorry guys, I didn't read through this entire thread.
I entered the first firearm. Everything goes through after waiting. The view cart/pending cart issue sucks. I can't tell what is going on there. I try to enter an additional firearm, and the first set of four photos is being shown for the next gun?
Been working on this for a few hours. I even backed out, tried to delete the old info I entered and started over. So now I was able to get another firearm entered and got a CRIS number. But when I went to pay for this firearm, the original firearm I entered popped up, even though I deleted the info? And the second firearm data is lost? What happened the CRIS number I just printed out? Its gone?
Guess I'm going to be a felon. This aint getting done correct?
It took the DOJ 6 weeks to fix the problem. I recommend starting over with a different email. Use firefox or IE. I used IE and still had the problem. Calling them for help is useless. All trouble needs to be reported on line on your applicationComment

They will approve them separately, even if all on the same app. They approve one at a time. The DOJ went back and forth on my first submission, finally approved it then went back and forth on the second. I wanted to edit my second once I found their preference on the first, but you can't edit until they kick one back an allow you to enter new info. Slow and painful process, typical of gov workComment
