Barrel length on DOJ RAW form

Hypothetically, If I use a 14.5" barrel with a 1.5" muzzle device pinned and welded, the barrel is "16". The barrel may be stamped 14.5 though. Overall my gun would be over 30" (of course).

I think I would have to enter "16 inches" on line 7 of the DOJ form, or risk being denied?

    * Would "14.5 inches" be okay on the DOJ form?
    * Would "16 inches" be a false statement?

    Any thoughts? Thanks.

Should I wait to submit a co-applicant until mine goes through all the way?

            Thanks in advance.

Nah, as soon as you submit and pay for your application, you'll get the CRIS number so you can do your co-applicant's registration. You can do them one right after the other.
Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

                Turned the tables on them

I received the below "Incomplete" today:

Thank you for submitting your application. The documentation you provided for the primary applicant is not an acceptable form of proof of address. Please refer to California Code of Regulations, title 11, section 5474.1(c) for more information: https://oag.ca.gov/sites/all/files/a...let-button.pdf
After reviewing that my Gas bill submitted was in the 90 day time window.

                I replied back:

I'm sorry, but my Gas bill is within 90 days of my AW registration and is an exceptable form of proof of residency.
Please refer to California Code of Regulations, title 11, section 5474.1(c) for more information: https://oag.ca.gov/sites/all/files/a...let-button.pdf

I received the "notify by mail" email about an hour later.

Nehemiah 4:13-18 I stationed the families at our vulnerable spots with their weapons. The men worked in shifts to rebuild our walls; one half worked while the other half guarded. Each of the workers had his weapon either at his side or in his hand while he worked.

Ours too. And I got my "papers" 2 months ago and my wife got hers a month ago.

This was a find for me today, as I looked at the FAQ brought to my attention by Bladegunner's post in another thread I realized that the State of CA DOJ has confirmed to us that we can shorten our weapons that have been registered as BBAW. This is a big thing, we thought previously that this might have to go to court to clear up, but they CLEARLY state that:

                          ""

Of course the BB is a no go for the time being, but we can in fact shorten our rifles to 26" (as long as we have a 16" barrel) as soon as they are registered.

This is huge news, because we can now fold most AK and most folding stock rifles again as long as they still measure 26" when folded. This was one of those silver lining issues we were all hoping for.

It also makes it possible to run without the muzzle extensions on some bullpups, or at least the ridiculously long ones.

What is also deeply significant about this FAQ answer is that it does NOT say we can't change calibers, uppers, colors, grips, etc. I have screen grab'd and saved the webpage and I encourage others to do the same so no retractions or shenanigans can happen in the future.

This is actually a big victory handed to us!!!!!!!!!

Funny that DOJ just came right out and said that. I would've figured they'd dance around the issue.

Seriously, I thought it would be 5 different lawsuits. One to detemrine OAL, another to determine if we can change or reconfigure, etc. Now we know we can:

                              1) Modify OAL to 26" (maintaining a 16" barrel)
                              2) Modify uppers
                              3) Modify grips, etc. stocks, etc.
                              4) Modify configuration in any way we see fit

As long as those modifications are legal, we are all good. BB stays on for time being.

This now finally shows a silver lining and another advantage to registration. We can go to standard rifle length boys! 26" is kosher. BIG WIN.

                              Thanks DOJ web team!

Also, unintended side effect of 5477, don't change the mag release on a pre-2000 RAW either. Sorry to say, you're stuck with a regular release on those because that regulation applies to all RAWs apparently. They say, don't change the mag release type in ANY RAW.
