It was an accident apparently, the guy was elderly and didn't really understand the AW laws. End result is he didn't get arrested or charged but probably lost his firearm.

Several weeks ago as husband and wife we submitted separate registration applications with four pictures for each relevant rifle listing each other as coregistrants, and more applications listing each other’s rifles, so we did one each for primary and one each for co, one fee for each, thinking that would keep things clean and simple. All were kicked back almost immediately requesting pictures showing caliber and and then again for arguments we had to put 5.56 as cal rather than multi because that is what the stamps say. All were fixed with corrections to specifications the bureaucrats requested.
To date, we have received only one white envelope registration letter, last week, all the others (both primary and secondary) are pending with no clue as to why there are delays though everything went through close to the same time. Apparently following the 90 day rule no one will talk to us until early June when I will be out of the country.
Random vent: Both of us have cancer we are battling on top of this so this is just so much unnecessary extra stress and if anyone sane took one look at us and our histories they would know we are not the next school shooters"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." I would include a comment in your application that discusses the Tavor's bullet button (brand, a link to a website for it, etc), and maybe provide an extra photo that shows how it works. For example, maybe use a bullet to show the part you have to poke with a bullet.Comment

From what I've seen here, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. If I were in your position, I'd keep bugging DOJ until they give me answers, and not accept their canned "please wait 90 days" answer. Eventually maybe they'll get tired of you filling their inbox and phone lines and finally just answer your question.Comment

Sorry if this has been asked and answered, I did a search and didnt see it - but what are you using for acquired date? Assuming you, like me, dont keep copies of the DROS forms every time you buy or sell a gun. I know the stores where I acquired them but I have no clue as to dates......"If you have them by the balls, their hearts and minds will follow"Comment

If you don't know the DROS date, these are your options:
-Call the store where you purchased it, and see if they can give you the date.
-Guess.
If you guess, then make sure you say so in the Comments section so as to not perjure yourself. If your rifle was purchased before 2014, then most likely your registration will be processed, because DOJ doesn't know your purchase date either, so they kind of need to take your word for it. If you purchased it in or after 2014, then DOJ probably knows the date, and they will respond to your application with a request to correct the purchase date. Of course, they usually don't tell you what the purchase date is, because that would be too easy. They just tell you your guess was wrong, and to call them if you have any questions - so if they tell you that, then call the phone number that they'll send to you.Comment

Use the DROS date (not the date you picked up the firearm).

I finally received my letter today. Here was my timeline:
2/7/18 Submitted registration for 3 rifles (All ARs, all had original DROS date, all manufacturers were listed in the form and all were stamped multi cal, nothing out of the ordinary otherwise). Received receipt for payment immediately. No kickbacks.
3/8/18 Received submission confirmation emails for all 3.
3/26/18 Received approval letter dated 3/22/18 with all 3 rifles and my previously registered RAW listed.
So, it took about a month and a half for mine with no kickbacks or anything out of the ordinary. It seems that the processing times are totally random.
Oh, and the multi-cal rifles are listed as 8888 under Caliber, so I'm guessing their system can only handle a numerical value in that field.Comment

Yes, I selected interchangeable barrels and No, I did not submit any barrel marking photos and none were requested. Unless there is no caliber marking on the receiver, there is no need to.Comment
