11 CFR 5471 (hh) "Semiautomatic" means a firearm functionally able to fire a single cartridge eject the empty case and reload the chamber each time the trigger is dulled and released. Further, certain necessary mechanical parts that will allow a firearm to function in a semiautomatic nature must be present for a weapon to be deemed semiautomatic. A weapon clearly designed to be semiautomatic but lacking a firing pin bolt carrier gas tube or some other crucial part of the firearm is not semiautomatic for purposes of Penal Code section 30515, 30600 and 30605(a) and 30900.

If you remove the BCG the CA DOJ no longer considers it a functioning firearm and therefor cannot be an AW.

When doing my last set of three, I clicked preview ( all looked good) and it told me to click the box to accept the DOJ terms. I clicked it and for giggles clicked preview again... and ALL the boxes for the rifle features were now checked.

I assume its some kind of glitch, but definitely could have been bad.

Has anyone gotten an BBAW approval for an FMBUS yet? I got my confirmation email today and it only lists my store bought gun. No mention of the FMBUS guns.

After we "report an issue" through CRIS, how will they respond?

Through the website. There should be a corresponding email notification notifying you that there was a reply in the issue log.

Or make it easy for yourself, and use a document with both your names on it (like vehicle registration where you're both co-owners).
Oh crap, I just submitted my registration a few days ago with utility bill in my name and address. With her registration, I will submit car registration with both of our names and address. Hope I don't get a kick back.

You can submit an issue tickets ask them to open your application then you can correct them. Use same joint registration document for you and wife.

                  I finally got my **** together, 6 firearms x 4 photos + Infos

Odd thing is that all my S/Ns I know by heart now since that is what I used to organize the pics

I have a strangely sick feeling in my stomach, like when you get stopped by LE. I have read and re-read this at least 10 times. Wish me luck, hopefully I won't be doing this until midnight.

Thank you for the information. I will open a ticket and hopefully hear back from them soon.

Looks like they did a website update today. Things seem to actually work by design now. No more missing fields when returning to a page nor waiting for a minute for the page to finish processing.

Received an email response to application requesting a photo of my rifles from stock to end of barrel with a measuring device. They specifically requested that the telescoping stock be in its shortest position.

The rifles are all SCAR 16s and 17s with the factory stock. Seems wierd. Any thoughts on how to proceed?

Below is the text from the email:

The California Department of Justice has received your electronic AB 1135/SB 880 Assault Weapon Registration; however, it cannot be processed for the following reason(s):

Please submit a clear photo of your firearm (from stock to barrel) in its shortest configuration, laying down on a flat surface with a tape measure above it. Refer to California Code of Regulations, title 11, section 5471(x) for more information:*https://oag.ca.gov/sites/all/files/a...let-button.pdf

Anyone else? The guide says no measuring tape. Thanks calgunners!

Just do what they ask. They want to see the gun in the shortest fireable configuration (with the stock at shortest position) with a tape measure over it to make sure it's over 30". If it's a SCAR-17 as you said, make sure to note that the stock is blocked from folding in the comments section and they should accept it after that. I've had CFARS ask me for a tape measure for guns that are obviously over 30" like an AR with a telescoping stock and 16" barrel. All of the bullpups and folding stock guns I've submitted they've also asked for tape measure pictures. Just make damn sure that the tape measure clearly shows the gun over 30" OAL in the shortest fireable configuration.

After doing a bunch of these registrations, I've just taken to taking photos of any guns that are near 30" in their shortest fireable configuration (including all bullpups) in case they ask for it so I don't have to get it out of the safe to take that one photo.

Yep I was pleasantly surprised (in a bad way) it went so smoothly for me.

1 hour / 20 minutes for two separate submissions, regular rifles and 80% pistols. Now take the pistols apart.

How long until the email confirmation?

Thank you for the SCAR specific input. Much appreciated!
