    My wife gave me the OK for a Jensen yard sign. We both voted for him in the June elections. Since she's very politically active, I get her blessing first since you never know who might drop by. We'll host Matt Mahan here early July for a front yard meet and greet. Was hoping Dev Davis got into the runoff, but Matt is my solid second choice for mayor. Supporting Johnny Khamis for Dist. 1 Co. Supervisor. I supported him when he ran for state senate in 2020.

      But after looking at those results this state is a lost cause. A democrat won every category. And you think we will get CCW in Santa Clara keep on dreaming.

        Today's MurkyNews (sorry, paywall and I ain't paying);

        Prosecutors gave Laurie Smith a July 15 deadline by prosecutors to resign and resolve the case; a guilty verdict would force her removal with a few months left in her sixth term.

          As California starts over on concealed gun law, another sheriff faces permit questions
          Golden State misfires in attempt to redo gun permit law

          California has been hailed as a model for gun laws by those who favor tough restrictions, but the Golden State’s effort to limit who can carry a concealed weapon in public has looked more like a misfire.

          Since the U.S. Supreme Court in June ruled the state’s concealed gun laws run afoul of the Second Amendment right to bear arms, California lawmakers have tried and failed to pass an alternative. In the meantime, a second sheriff now faces questions about whether favoritism influenced who got licensed to pack heat, fueling perceptions the state’s rules were not only unconstitutional but also recipes for corruption.

          As Santa Clara County Sheriff Laurie Smith faces trial later this month on charges of tying concealed carry weapon permits, or CCWs, to political favors and donations, similar questions now swirl around Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva. Meanwhile, anxious lawmakers are attempting a do-over on the licensing rules.

          State Senator Anthony Portantino, D-Burbank, said the state is seeking to devise “objective criteria” for concealed weapons permits that “will both comply with the Supreme Court and make the system uniform and less likely to be prone to cronyism.” But Portantino’s concealed weapons bill died last month because some legislators who worried the new criteria still went too far to limit the permits wouldn’t support it.
          More behind paywall, but give it a try;
          California lawmakers are taking another shot at rewriting the state’s concealed gun permit rules while two sheriffs face questions whether they used their discretion in issuing them for polit…

            "later this month" is actually Wednesday. Santa Clara Superior Court has the jury trial of The People of The State Of California vs. Laurie Smith scheduled for 9/21, 9/22, 9/28 and 9/29.

              And here we go!

              A judge on Tuesday rejected Santa Clara County Sheriff Laurie Smith’s late-stage attempt to quash her corruption trial by invoking a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling on concealed-gun permits — paving the path for the trial to get underway.

              On the eve of Smith’s civil trial — which begins with jury selection Wednesday — San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Nancy Fineman denied a request from Smith’s attorney to dismiss six of the seven accusations filed by a Santa Clara County civil grand jury last December.

              Allen Ruby, Smith’s attorney, had argued in filings and in court Tuesday that Smith cannot be prosecuted for favoritism in the awarding of concealed-carry weapons licenses because the Supreme Court’s landmark Bruen decision in June struck down the legal framework under which those licenses were granted.
              Laurie Smith’s attorney contended that the Bruen decision that negated ‘good cause’ tests for concealed-gun permits meant she can’t be prosecuted for civil grand jury accusa…

                Hello CalGunners

                Remember to vote for Kevin Jensen for SCC Sheriff. Ballots are being sent out and he's our only viable candidate. The other candidate proclaimed in recent past that he was the only Democrat in the running as well as stated he would potentially add a new requirement for CCW issuance as well is supported by a group who contributed to Laurie Smith.

                Kevin's opponent is also endorsed by https://gunsensevoter.org/gun-sense-voting-candidates/ which is an extension of Mike Bloomberg's Everytown Anti-Gun organization.

                Remember for Santa Clara County - KEVIN JENSEN (capped to not be confused with his competitor with a very similar last name), is the only candidate to support.

                    Not looking good for our boy Jenson....88% of results in (according to Mercury News) and trailing by ~8k votes.

                    In other (predictable) news, every state wide seat went Dem by a huge margin. Only positive news I see is Cindy Chavez looks like she may be defeated in the San Jose mayor race. I keep filling in my ballot and spreading the word, but story never seems to change......
