"What's the rush? Haven't we won?" (I know, we haven't won yet, but may be winning Peruta very soon. Why wait??)
Even if/when we win judicial Shall Issue, you can be sure the antis in Sacto will be mounting a political counterattack, adding restrictions, hurdles, fees, publishing CCWers names and addresses, etc.
IMHO, the best way to turn a gunnie into a 2nd A activist is for them to get a CCW. Then they've got "skin in the game," a vested interest in making sure anti CLEOs and anti politicos don't get away w/more anti policies or laws.
I hope "the Right People" (CGN, CGF, NRA, etc.) are thinking and planning about this and how they can enable it.
There will be political/MSM media/academic blowback from Peruta....
Right now, Solano, Sacto, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced (once new sheriff in office in January), Fresno, Ventura, and Orange ALL state on their websites that they accept mere "self-defense" as a sufficient Good Cause statement. We should try to maximize the number of CCWers rather than just passively wait for people to learn about them and apply. (There are NUMEROUS rural counties that also readily issue (e.g., Mendocino, Tehama), but are not as "target rich," so to speak.)
