    I applied to LASD the week before news came out on Peruta, ( have my Pending Peruta letter ) I also got my friend to apply right after decision was made so I'm not sure what he's going to receive as a response.

    Unfortunetly everyone else around me are libs, I feel alone out here in LA.

        The most effective way would be to have blank applications readily available at the LGS. Buy a gun, fill out an app....
        The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals.
        Well, when there aren't enough criminals,
        one makes them.
        One declares so many things to be a crime that it
        becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws.

          Sonoma Sheriff said they won't accept applications for residents of certain cities - we must go through our city PD instead...

          Cities are requiring all sorts of illegal activities like requiring the following at app submission:
          * Livescan
          * Class/training
          * Doctor's Note
          * Psych testing
          * Reference Letters
          * Full DOJ $100 fee - even though the fee schedule only says $87.

            Yeah, definitely, when I first started carrying.

            Then I received training, practiced shooting more, and finally got used to carrying. Eventually that initial trepidation goes away, in my experience.

              After action... Still get it, even if you're not ready to carry. If nothing else, it protects you legally during transport to the range if you forget to lock a case or drop a mag or something

                Doesn't matter. Get it anyway even if you never carry, just to give an upraised middle finger to the state.

                    Yeah, don't sweat it. Apply anyway. Just because you have the license doesn't mean you actually need to carry. I'm sure, as others have said, with more familiarity your nervousness will subside, but meanwhile it's better to have the license and not need it than be in a situation where you feel the need to carry (comfortable or not) and not be legally able to do so. This is of course assuming the financial imposition isn't too big and you don't live in a county with despicable "outing" rules.

                      Hold up.... People are applying LA city and county now? To what end? Just to do it and see what happens? I thought it was still no go in LA City/ County?

                        To get in line for when something does happen. Anyone who had applied to LASD has received a pending Peruta letter and is in line to have their apps processed once Peruta is in place.

                          Why aren't the Bay Area counties listed in yellow like LA? They're all no-issue right now.

                            Isn't the "something" 5 years hence for LA? If at all?

                            What is actually going on now at LAPD or LASD if you apply? Are they sitting on the applications? Or are they still saying no?

                              God may have made men, but Samuel Colt made them equal.

                              Send me pics of your: Colt Detective Special, AMT Hardballer, pre-64 Winchester Model 70. I'm looking for them.

                                If you use Self defense as your reason, your app is thrown in the "Peruta Pile" which is seperate than if you were to apply trying to use "good cause".

                                If it's in the Peruta pile it's basicaly in their backlog which in the letter states they will process Peruta applications based on Self defense in the order they are received once Peruta is finalized therefore it's in your best interest to get in line if you plan on ever applying.
