That's also for our own good, the working people of this great State. The unemployment rate is so low these days, it's just not good for the economy so the Governor saw the need to take the burden off us Californian workers and give the jobs to Mexican illegals.
Thank a liberal for that. And for the anti-gun laws that come pouring down from Sacramento.

CA is a pit because of all the unfunded retirement obligations to public employees and also the huge outstanding debt built up by a series of bond measures.

You all may bash California but it still has one of the best gunsmithing schools in the nation. Lassen Community College is outstanding, for training, of future gunsmiths.

California's biggest problem is our coastline. All those wonderful beaches attract huge numbers of people, and when a concentration of people exceeds a critical mass it goes blue. It's very easy to believe in freedom when you're on your own bit of land, but when you're packed in tooth-to-jowl with millions of neighbors, suddenly their "freedom" becomes a huge PITA, and you start voting for "common sense laws". If the coastal counties from Los Angeles up around the Bay Area to Humboldt were split off, the rest of California would be an incredibly conservative state, and the biggest gun-buying state in the nation.

The free-est (relatively speaking) states are those with few or no major cities. No thick concentrations of people = a lot less leftism. And since more and more people (not productive, working, successful people, but just "people") will keep crowding into California, it'll keep getting worse and worse. IMO, we should have a state Senate that's chosen around geographic lines, not population, like how the US Senate is formed. That would have been a great bulwark against the leftist Assembly. But we don't, and we never will.

California is a lost cause. I left and lived in Virginia for a while. Other than the weather, I liked that a lot better. I came back for a very dumb reason, and the only reason I stay is because I really owe the customer who pays for my time. The moment that comes to an end, I'm out of here again, and I won't be back. There is no point to "stay and fight" when my vote for freedom is not only countered by 100 grasping hands, but also by ten other votes who claim to believe in "freedom", but really mean "you're free to do what I approve of". Republicans in this state tend to be such extremists that they drive even more popular support away from their party and to the left. Most Californians simply don't care about gay marriage or pot, and pounding a pulpit on those issues just makes your voters either stay home or vote for a "lesser evil".

What we need is a federal 'second ammendment rights protection act', under which states with a history of infringing second ammendment rights must prove the constitutionality of laws in this area before they can pass and enforce them.

1st off its wrong to refer to free Americans as the " Masses " unless of course your a Marxist . Which I doubt you are.

2nd the FOPA helped nearly every gunowner in the USA, finally we had protections for interstate travel and a few other real benefits to gunowners .

Responding to the OP's post, destroying the constitution is just a means to an end, and that end is money through corruption.

The dems want people turning on eachother, fighting about meaningless issues like gay marriage and abortion. They want to harass the people who want law and order and a good economy. They want to pander to the stupid, low-information voters and pass laws that make that strata of society the most politically relevant. Most of all they want us all chasing our tails working 9-5 exhausting ourselves so all we have energy for is a few episodes of reality tv before we sleep and do it all again the next day. Why?

In the span of US history, "urban" = "liberal/leftism" is a relatively new thing.

Before 1950, urban cities were the conservatives as the GOP stood for urban pro-business industrialists, and the rural areas were the Solid South Democrats who stood for states rights. It was Nixon-Goldwater who changed the GOP strategy to the southern rural areas.
