In my little world here in SoCal in my short 2.5 years of residency I haven't met a lot of rabid antigunners. Most people I've met are OK with gun owner ship but also, unfortunately, OK if it gets restricted for "safety." I think that's the main problem. They see it like the 4th amendment we used to have - it's OK to chip away at it for safety.

Agreed, I think most people here are indifferent to gun rights as opposed to being rabid antis, but will ALWAYS vote for "safety" on matters they don't understand and/or are indifferent to. They are also very, very easily influenced by the media and politicians-- and since they get nearly all their information from these two sources, responsible gun owners get screwed. I think gun owners here, more than in most states, need to realize they are all ambassadors for this hobby and our 2a rights to a very misinformed non-gun-owning population and carry themselves accordingly.Comment

I think where we go wrong is to simply believe that sacremento has an active agenda to destroy the constitution etc. while that may be what what we end up with in the end, i'm still not sure "destroying the constitution" is what the motivation is. it would all be comical if our overlords didnt actually believe that they are doing good ( don't get me wrong f- 'em ALL ).
2a issues are simply a byproduct
our state has been circling the bowl for some time now, and we gotta recognize that it's not just 2a related. our guns will be gone along with the rest of the state.
what do you say?
Once I have done that I try to draw similarities between all the other ridiculous california restrictions so it helps them connect the dots. At the very least, I am planting the seed. I don't expect everyone to love guns, I just want them to be tolerated.
-CA's ban on Foie Gras
-Banning plastic bags and charging 10cents per bag by law
-Ban on caffeinated bear
-Ban on shark fin
-Ban on tanning beds for minors, even with parental consent
-De Leon's 2011 bill on banning flat sheets at hotels (http://www.nosb432.com/)
The list goes on and on.Comment

California used to be part of the West. California used to be a symbol for innovation and freedom.
The people in California were very tolerant , friendly and open, and believed in letting others do their own thing, and giving them enough space to do it.
Now we have what I would call a Stalin style nanny state. The same people who have outlawed disposable shopping bags, forced Starbucks to put up signs warning patrons roasted coffee is carcinogenic, are micro legislating guns with the same fervor.http://govnews.ca.gov/gov39mail/mail.php

Thank your neighbor and fellow gun owners for passing Prop 63. For that gun control is a winning legislative agenda.

It's all for your own good, but we the unwashed masses are just too stupid the realize it.
By the way, Gov. Brown has now officially welcomed illegal immigrants to California.
That's also for our own good, the working people of this great State. The unemployment rate is so low these days, it's just not good for the economy so the Governor saw the need to take the burden off us Californian workers and give the jobs to Mexican illegals.
Thank a liberal for that. And for the anti-gun laws that come pouring down from Sacramento.. this state is run by idiots.

The political hacks lie - And the naive delusional voters agree with them.
Prop 38 - Which would have raised EVERYONES taxes failed to get enough votes.
Prop 30 - Which raised taxes only on us "evil rich" people making over $250k per year - Passed.
Why? Moombeam said it was for the "schools and children".
Less than 3 years and counting - Taking my companies to AZ - Along with about 600 jobs.....

you probably will. I have talked to a few Soldiers in my unit who ride and even though it is legal to do it. it is your risk and fault IIRC if something happens.
people do all kinds of things sitting in traffic especially on the 405 which we all know sucks any time of day.http://govnews.ca.gov/gov39mail/mail.php

That's pure BS. First of all, it is illegal to open a door in traffic (CAVC Section 22517). Second, it sure as hell isn't my "risk and fault" if someone does something totally illegal and incredibly dangerous which causes me harm. In fact since the only reason to do such a thing would be an attempt to MURDER me, I'm going to treat it that way and act accordingly. Finally, I've survived high speed freeway wrecks before. I wear a hell of a lot of armor, which is why I'm still alive after bouncing between cars at 70 mph.My posts may contain general information related to the law, however, THEY ARE NOT LEGAL ADVICE AND I AM NOT A LAWYER. What we need is a federal 'second ammendment rights protection act', under which states with a history of infringing second ammendment rights must prove the constitutionality of laws in this area before they can pass and enforce them.Comment

Just so you all know, almost no one at the Republican party meetings discusses 2A issues. If we had 10 CalGunners attending the meetings, chatting with legislatiors, we could make some serious progress in showing candidates that their constituents care about 2A rights..
There are several groups that candidates look for endorsements from. Join one and each time a candidate gets interviewed with their hat in their hands, grill them on their commitment to 2A rights.
Donate and support campaigns for pro 2A politicians at the state level. I'm hosting a meet n greet for a candidate for the state assembly next month (I'll make a post to invite ya'll).
Freedom isn't free, some have paid with their lives, I've spent a few grand. It's worth it to fight the good fight against tyranny and oppression.Last edited by ScottyXbones; 08-28-2014, 12:53 AM.Comment
