After all, how would this dealer know you would not have a receipt?
And how would he know that handgun wasn't be sold to him as part of a sting, especially since you sold it to him at a gunshow. Remember "Fast and Furious"?

Had a buddy that sold his guns during a tough period to a gun shop in Mountain View that since closed and then reopened under the same name but different owners. He got a call from the cops too. He had all his paperwork for all the guns he sold them. They hadn't done the paperwork on any of his guns it seems.

Hope your dealer gets nailed. Stories like this are what make the banners get all fired up.

      Good luck.

All I know is I did not approach him, he approached me. I had a for sale sign on my back pack, he inquired and then bought it. It was not like I was holding my jacket open and going 'pssst, hey wanna buy a gun?' and as far as I remember all my info was printed on the factory box. Turns out i was asking like $90-100 less than anyone else, which I did not bother to find out til after the deal So no wonder he bought it...

been a looooong day.... and know I wait to hear from a detective from the actual city PD who nabbed the guy.. that is what my city PD told me since the other city is doing the investigating......

Thank's for all the various posts guys, I really do appreciate the different views and takes and let me say I am going to be a total anal character(more so) regarding paperwork and records and I will be getting the name of anyone I do bis with ,meaning if a ffl, the EMPLOYEE NAME or Supervisor,owner,etc..... done with this.. will update when I have meaningful info...
