As hot as Kamala is, let's make sure she doesn't hold this seat again or any other office that's statewide. I can't do much to Yee, I'm not in the 'sco, but Kamala is statewide and I don't care if Matlock is her next opponent, I will vote opposite of her. I'm a registered Democrat and I don't care.

Think about a couple of things. We are pissed at SB249 because it is an emotionally driven law. So why do something emotionally driven? Add to that we will weaken the fight here in California, the front line of this crap. As the saying goes, if California goes, so does the nation...so you may buy some years, but if California folds, be sure it is not too long when it comes to you wherever that may be. So stand our ground and hold the line. This ***** dies here.
Im not packing my bags yet, but youre right I'm feeling very emotional. I have small children, a wife with a career of 9 years, I've been at my same tech job for 12 years...it would be very hard to leave. VERY hard. I can't stand that I served in the Army only to be treated like a criminal here at home. I'm so tired of being made fun of by friends in other states and being mocked by my elected officials and their staff.

I do agree with you that the fight here is important for our whole country. I'm going to be giving as much financially, of my time and emotionally as I can, don't get me wrong. I'm just saying that today was the first time I have genuinely felt in my heart like I may not be at home any longer.

These people hate me/us. HATE. I hope I have the strength to hang in through this continued hatred over the next few years. I want to win badly. I wish I felt support from other people than CGF. Where is my NRA? Why aren't ALL of my gun owning friends just as upset as I am? I don't understand. I'm OUTRAGED in fact.

The NRA called me this very morning to ask for more money. I asked them what they are doing to fight sb249 in CA and they had nothing to say except that they "oppose" this legislation. Oh good I feel better now.

I feel alone and I'm tired of feeling that way Brothers. I'm not a gun "nut" damnit. I'm a proud American who LOVES and served his country. When will our voices finally be heard louder than the slime oozing out of SF and LA? When will I be able to see tangible returns from my investment and efforts? I have more fire in me....it's just so easy to get frustrated living here.

For the record, I completely agree with what XD40 is saying. We all feel the same way. We all just wanna leave this crap behind and move. I was born, raised and have lived my entire life in California. There's no way I'm gonna let some douchebag politician force me to leave my home. We must all stand together and fight together. I refuse to just leave my brothers behind and leave this state. We can take this state back, we just have to be committed and work hard for it. We can't just give up. So just hang in there and fight the good fight with the rest of us. Also, thank you for your service to our country.

I'm with you bro. Moving would mean leaving behind all of my friends, family, and job. I was raised in CA since childhood, this is my home. I won't deny I am shaken by the pure evil that is SB249, I think most of us are. The only way is to lock shields, brace ourselves, work hard, and trust in Calguns to prevail in the long run. It's a real leap of faith for someone like me who rarely has any, but for this cause I am willing to stand my ground ala Jimmy Stewart in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. Lets see 500,000 to 1,000,000 guns that need to go to a gunsmith for welding and modification. Do we even have enough gunsmiths to do this? I only know of 3 or 4 in the Sacramento region that are active gunsmiths. The rest retired or work part time.

"Attorney General Kamala Harris and a Democratic state lawmaker are seeking the change after this summer's massacre at a Colorado movie theater."

This is a flat out lie. Yee introduced this bill in April. It wasn't because or after CO.

I'm going to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the rules of the forum, particularly one of them:

Anti-Government sentiments always seem to attach themselves to the firearms culture, this is in part due to the fact that we see the erosion of our 2nd Amendment rights as a Government intrusion and rightly so. However trying to claim that everything the Government does is evil or part of some grand diabolical design is not only overly suspicious it is detrimental to us as well. It makes all firearms owners look slightly off center. Calguns is not about being anti-Government; we are about being Pro Second Amendment and that is the focus we wish to keep. Non-Second Amendment political discussion will be kept civil, polite and respectful just as Second Amendment political discussion has been expected to be. Sarcastic or insulting terms or images used in regards to elected officials will not be allowed. It doesn’t matter if it is Bush, Clinton, Cheney, Pelosi or our own State Senators, the clever names and sarcastic comments do not make us look anything other than childish. You do not have to respect the person but we expect you to respect the Office. If you can not your post will be removed, repeated removals will cause your account to be closed.
As has been said before, focus on the bill not the person.

I will continue to fight, but the day this holds up in court, if it gets that far, is the day I begin looking to move out of state. I hate that the bullet button is necessary in this state, but at least we can have otherwise functional AR/AK pattern rifles. If they take those away, if we are no longer able to posess (in neutered form) one of the most common firearms in the US, I will leave.

At first I was hopeful that the revised language to ban bullet button configurations altogether was just a rumor, but alas, it appears to have materialized. The Sac Bee article posted above comes from an AP article, and the others making their way online now originate from it. I haven't been able to find the source of the interview where AG Harris supported this abomination of a law, or any press releases from the Yee camp regarding it, but they recently posted some tweets more or less confirming it.

We've been operating under the existing status quo for more than half a decade, and now they're suddenly going to pull the rug out from under our collective feet and make all of us felons with the stroke of the pen? I'm absolutely disgusted and angered beyond words with this arbitrary and capricious exercise of legislative power.

I firmly believe that the AW ban is a complete and utter failure and there's no logical reason why I cannot possess a rifle with a pistol grip and a removable magazine. I never agreed with the bullet button because the last thing a criminal is worrying about is whether his weapon is California compliant, and it only restricts the actions of the law-abiding. Admittedly, to some extent, the AW laws and the bullet button did help draw a clearer (though by no means absolutely clear) line between us and the criminals because we willingly subjected ourselves to the restriction of having to use a tool to unlock magazines in our centerfire semiautomatic rifles. Yee and his ilk call that an exploitation of a loophole. I disagree. By that very action, we demonstrated that we are responsible, that we could be trusted with firearms, and that we are most definitively not the criminals they were looking for. Now that they're trying to take this away, such differentiation would no longer be possible. Just because we possess items of a certain configuration and "look," in Yee's eyes, we're just as much criminals as the Holmes, Loughners, and Chos of the world.

If one thing is for certain, it's that they will be met with opposition every step of the way. I hope they are prepared to see the legislation die a much deserved death in the same fashion as the unconstitutional violent video game bill.

Gavin Newsom is a lying, cheating slickster and will be is the worst mistake California has ever made if he gets now that he has been elected Governor. Hollywood movie producers look to him and his oleaginous persona as a model for the corrupt "bad guy" politician character. This guy is so greasy, he could lubricate an entire arsenal of AR-15s just by breathing on them.

Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.
