Yeah right, we continue to give helpful hints about where the problem is with the bill and they revise it. This thread needs to be deep sixed and we need to stfu.

Pretty sure the reason this thread is still here is that people are going to want to discuss this. If this thread goes away the mods will spend all their time deleting dupe SB 249 threads that everyone and their brother will be posting.

        That makes sense now.
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

          +1

People have pointed out potential issues that could prevent this bill from passing. If those issues are addressed we only have ourselves to blame.

One of the things that I've noticed here, is that the law and Mr. Keigwin's comments seam to focused on the AR-15 type of bullet button. Without going into too much detail, there are significant issues with the law and Mr. Keigwin's "easy fix" for other type's of firearms. I hope that people don't get tunnel vision with AR type's and think about what this will do to other types.

It is a mistake to shun our friends, liberal or conservative, in this dire time.
This is extremely true. I am not a conservative and yet I am still very much opposed to this bill and any other bill that limits the ability of the private citizen to defend themselves. I have signed the petition and have shared the cause of facebook and take every chance I can to make the case that more gun control does not equal less crime.

I wrote my senior seminar project a few years ago on the purpose of gun control and it's inability to curb crime, especially incidents like mass shootings. Solving the issue of crime is about pragmatism, whereas gun control legislation is about fear mongering and misinformation.

I ask those of you who are more partisan that others to please understand that we as gun owners gain more from including those who might agree on other social or fiscal or religious issues than alienating them and fracturing the cause.

Think about a couple of things. We are pissed at SB249 because it is an emotionally driven law. So why do something emotionally driven? Add to that we will weaken the fight here in California, the front line of this crap. As the saying goes, if California goes, so does the nation...so you may buy some years, but if California folds, be sure it is not too long when it comes to you wherever that may be. So stand our ground and hold the line. This ***** dies here.
Not true... California unfortunately is ridden with liberals who don't understand erosion in 2A means erosion on their favourite A's next. Other states still have a reasonable and conservative majority. I live and work in Silicon Valley, and would find it hard to find same line of work outside of the bay area, but in five years, I am out of here, and taking all my assets with me. Yee and the other California Democrats can keep their burgeoning illegal alien base and see how far that gets them tax revenue wise.

AP is now reporting it. Should be picked up nationally.

They will spin this out of control, and already are with their "loop hole" angle. We need to own the message on this.

"His spokesman, Adam Keigwin, said a gunsmith could make the change in a few minutes by welding over the mechanism."
Oh really? As has been said before, the safety angle is one of the strongest angles. Good luck finding a gunsmith who will expose himself to the liability of welding a magazine fixed so that guns can potentially blow up in the users hands.

What's being done to fight this. I've called boxer, Feinstein office already and joined the NRA. Who's actually doing something about this??

That's an understatement, those 2, especially DF want ALL guns taken away. DF has publicly stated that should would like to take away everyone's guns, except for her's and her police escort.
Gun control is a 1" group at 500 yds!

                              True.

One thing even the mods have to accept is that the internet is the world's biggest 'back fence'. People want to talk.
