wow, my mind has been blown at how screwed up this bill is >.<

Im guessing they'll eventually change the wording a bit to make the bullet button illegal too. [Yee] said he wants to get rid of them.

Of course this is what will happen. And CGF has just published a tutorial on how to fix SB 249.

Dude, the bill wants to ban mag magnets. I think that is great. If it happens to extend to bullet buttons, then so be it BECAUSE then YEE will be singly responsible for introducing close to a million new AW's into the state. NO politician wants this type of suicide attached to their career.

Remember, you can't make citizens legal activities illegal without grandfathering or some sort of registration period ( you have read Lockyers letter to the governor about OLL's). So banning the BB deprives me of my legal firearm and violates my second amendment rights. Manufacturers are still ordering volumes of bullet buttons, and sales are increasing.

After some off-line discussions with some people, I'm going to withdraw my Chicken Little comments from earlier.

While I do believe that the threat from SB249 lies mainly in other directions than what are being most talked about, I do have to concede that there are a few ways - if the planets and stars are all in the right alignment, and you've got some very esoteric combinations of parts, some of which may or may not be even available on the market - that SB249 could cause problems as described in this thread, above and beyond what I had previously considered.

I'm not going to discuss this any further in public.

Personally I do not use my earlier-acquired large caps because I cannot prove when I acquired mine, which was circa 1981-82. Once in a while I see a bold soul at the range using a grandfathered large cap.

I don't understand this mentality. I use my pre-2000 hicap mags all the time at the range or on BLM whenever I feel like it. Burden is on law enforcement to prove that they are not legal, not on owners to prove they are legal.
