    Not missing any case law.
It's just immaturity. Same as a child pushing the limits with mom and dad until he gets his hand slapped.

It's natural... just a part of being human, and something that maturity tends to calm over the years.

That's why I brought up the penalties. It's the same with the high cap threads, and any other thread where the topic is "how much can I get away with?"

Before asking that question, ALWAYS ask:

What's at stake? What are the penalties?
How likely am I to be caught? (don't rely on refusal to consent to search)
Is there any solid case law that can defend me when I'm caught? (in most cases, no)
Is there any solid PC that clearly exempts me? (in most cases, no)

It's a matter of a Calguns discussion comes up with "Okay, we are comfortable that this is okay and this isn't."
6 months later, another thread comes up, and someone brings up the "this is okay" item, but ignores the "this isn't" item, and proceeds to attempt to use logic to push into the "this isn't" territory.

It's dangerous, and it's the same thing that gun store employees do when they make up laws... they see that "this" is illegal, so they assume that "that" is illegal as well, unless you do "this".
And the tipoff is when they say "preferably".
I've never once seen "preferably" in the PC.

Worse, it can have the potential to set very bad case law that impacts everyone.... taking something that has always been discussed as "Not specifically prohibited but we're not comfortable with it" and turning it into "Illegal under 'People vs Cokebottle'"
And from there... it moves the line the wrong way, and something that we have always been okay with (such as TSA lock on a zippered backpack) suddenly moves into the "we're not comfortable with it" area.
