So how much more is it going to cost the state in manpower, to process needless paperwork of long guns?

No more long guns for me here in CA. I will be an Oregon/Texas or any other state resident before buying long guns here in CA, unless any and all these new laws are struck by a court.
Very disappointed in the signing of these pro-"hate the Constitution" bills... Yeah, nice that he vetoed 427 and maybe the signing of 610 could become a precursor to shall issue more quickly, but it won't matter because I will be an Oregon or Texas resident soon (and made that decision regardless of how he signed the bills)... I am hopeful for HR-2900 (50 state reciprocity bill), or HR-822 (49 state).

To fill up the channel.
Since sheet metal was registered as AWs, there's no reason bent flats can't be registered as well.
Saturate the system with poor data quality.
And those that are thinking that since their long guns are unregistered and they're completely 'off the grid' are misinformed. It's pretty easy to figure out who's a gunowner from various records databases (magazine subscriptions, VISA receipts to sporting goods stores, etc.)

I got my hopes up quite a bit, and heard some info that turned out to be empty political promises. My original feeling when Brown was running for office was that after actually reading his amicus, his views on gun control definitely do not line up exactly with ours on this forum. He has a decent baseline understanding of 2A rights as a gun owner and I'd guess he's friendly to guns than Meg Whitman, but he's not the all star that some make him out to be. Repeating words that are worth re-reading:
In summary, he understands us a bit better than some, but he's still in favor of, or at least willing to accept, many "common sense(less)" gun control measures that we know are ineffective. His unwillingness to interfere with the legal system got us the ammo bill defeat, and his lack of active hostility toward 2A got us SB 610. The others you can chalk up to the above.Originally posted by Governor BrownFurther guidance on these issues is needed in

Lame, but expected..
Do I sound paranoid for thinking that the DOJ already does not "destroy" the purchaser information from long gun background checks..

Yeah, that must be it. I'm sure otherwise he would have vetoed the bill (sarcasm). Rather than blaming our own ranks, let's call a spade a spade and declare that JB is no friend of gun owners.
His message on the ammo registration bill was a big f-u to us as well-- "let's wait so we can screw the gun owners in the most opportune manner."

Registered OLLs...
Long Gun Registration ruled unconstitutional in DC last week.
DROS is now a tax and not a fee.
Carry license reform.
Excuse for not granting carry licenses destroyed.
I love it when a plan comes together!

I feel like posting this cause I like appearing to be wiser than I am.
As I said above, I did get lulled into having more hope for JB vetoes than I should have. This is from early this year:
I was wrong about ammo reg, but I think the biggest reason he vetoed was he's shown he doesn't like to interfere with the courts.Originally posted by CalBearSometimes I wonder if people have actually read Gov. Brown's amicus brief in McDonald, or if they just accept the fact that he submitted it as "good enough." For those who haven't read it, here it is. It's probably not as rosy as many would have imagined.
I'm somewhat amazed at the magical status Brown's amicus brief has attained here. Read it, and read it again, and tell me what you really think it's about.
I have no doubt Brown believes Americans have an individual right to keep and bear arms in their home. On the other hand, the brief gives us every reason to expect him to sign most gun control bills that make it to his desk. Anyone who calls California a national leader in common sense gun laws clear disagrees with us on so many levels.
If the handgun safety law is common sense, I would guess long gun registration, handgun registration, a UOC ban, ammo registration and restrictions, etc. are as well.
I wouldn't assume Brown will veto any gun control legislation at this point. In fact, I would assume quite the opposite.
