I know a physician who has a son who has the same name as someone on the "No fly list". They were having problems even when he was three years old, having to always insist on speaking to a supervisor at every boarding gate on their flights.

It is still manageable only because his son is now only seven, but can you imagine the difficulty he will have when he is an adult? Now, add in senseless garbage like this to the equation and his son is going to be deprived of a lot of rights that the rest of us take for granted.

Lautenberg needs to be put in jail permanently and without a trial. His contempt for due process and the rights of the citizens of this country is astounding.

The problem with this list is that it is just a list of names, and names are not people. Again, the government goes after the law abiding people with inane solutions that do not address core issues.

Still, I have to wonder if they tie gun ownership to this whether it will make it easier to strike the list down completely. After all, gun ownership is clearly protected by the Second Amendment.

Lautenberg naturally pushes this because he isn't subject to a fair vote and thus in any fear whatsoever of losing office. No way would he even try something like this if he wasn't from an enemy held guaranteed reelection state like New Jersey.

I believe he's arguing from the "turnabout is fair play" point of view. Lautenberg's a bully, as is the majority of the DHS. The TSA is an institutionalized sexual assault organization that is growing at an alarming rate. They are nothing more than a theatrical show with a proven rate of failure. They have stopped no criminals and have only hassled, hurt, harrased, and incarcerated citizens; specifically those who oppose them.

Welcome back to the new McCarthy era ladies and gentlemen. WHere an accusation or speaking out against the wrong bureaucrat will burn you.

The BEST thing about this is, it will have exact opposite effect.

Terrorist: "i'd like to buy a gun"
Store clerk: "sorry, you didn't pass the background check"
Terrorist [to DOJ] "why didn't i pass background check"
DOJ: "err, ahhh, we can't tell you, but ummm, it has nothing to do with us watching you because you're on the no fly list" "keep right on planning and talking to other terrorists"
                sigpic

"personal security, personal liberty, and private property"--could not be maintained solely by law, for "in vain would these rights be declared, ascertained, and protected by the dead letter of the laws, if the constitution had provided no other method to secure their actual enjoyment." -

Five days later I go to check in and my e-ticket won't process, I stop an airline employee and they try. It still won't go through. I get told I have to go to the ticket counter. I get there and tell the nice lady behind the counter my ticket won't work, give her my paperwork and she tries.

She kind of frowns and says "Well, you have a very common name and it is showing up on a watch list."

My response was "You have got to be ******* kidding me."

She looks up as I apologize for the f bomb. She then asks for I.D. I pull out my green I.D. card toss it on the counter and told her.

"I've been active duty for 19 years. I've got more clearance than anybody who works in this airport. Please tell me where I need to go and whose *** I need to put my size eleven boot up to straighten this cluster **** out."

She made a phone call and after a bunch of yes, yes, uh-huh, I understand that. I hear her say well all it has is a name, it is a common name. I asked him for I.D. and he gave me a military I.D. card, says he has been active duty for 19 years, and he is not going to be happy he he has to come down to your office to straighten this out.

She hung up, typed some stuff in the computer, handed me my boarding pass, apologized for the inconvenience.

I apologized for my colorful language, went and boarded my flight.
I had to go through almost this exact scenario (as a .gov not .mil) about 60 times over the course of a few years. I tried everything under the sun to get it 'fixed' and had zero luck...one day it finally stopped.

I haven't flown in years since I was a little kid and I don't plan on flying any time soon.

I would rather ride a train or drive. If they start checking you at train stations or freeway interchanges I will walk.

If and when it gets that bad, walkin' ain't enough. It's time to leave.

                          And go where?

I don't know either. The whole planet seems f'ed.

If you get on the list you can get a "redress number," to put on your reservation that will disambiguate you from the other "John Smith's" out there.

Shouldn't be necessary, and the whole thing is a sham, but a helpful tip for those dealing with this.
