The Democrats could have every seat in the house and senate and probably still couldn't pass something as simple as a household budget. I don't understand why so many people are still upset with the 2008 election cycle, let alone worried about this one where now the Republicans appear to have the house. Yeah all those candidates won in 2008 but they did nearly nothing. Less won this year and they will do even less.

Agreed. All it will take is some nut job going postal in a casino.

Yeah, they also realize that not ever Democrat or liberal is anti-gun. Many liberals are gun owners. I think they finally realized that guns aren't just for the GOP or WASP sect of society and that playing to that tune wasn't winning any popularity contests.

Lol she can try. Hell we got a giant Republican roadblock in the House along with some Democrats and a filibusterer in the Senate. Unless the bill is already typed up read to go and she introduces it tomorrow lol.

23 of the 33 Senate seats up for election in 2012 are currently held by Dems and the 2 independents that caucus with the Dems. Many of them hail from states that went red in a big way yesterday. They will not be supportive of anything that jeopardizes their chances in 2 years.

Assuming the Tea Party doesn't fizzle, I'd bet on another pickup of 5 to 8 seats by the Reps in 2 years. Reapportionment and redistricting could give the Reps another 5 to 10 seats in the House as well, plus work against any Dem Presidential candidate.

Not much is going to happen on Gun Control in the next 2 years, or after, except possibly more reversals based on recent Supreme Court decisions.

"Assault Rifles" are already banned. Yet, they will find more guns to ban using that moniker, a great big FU to this state.

If being anti-2A is political suicide, why do we have SO many anti-gun representatives voted in year after year?

Boxer made it clear before the election that she wanted to ban guns, and she won rather easily.

The House went right. Calif went further left. To hedge our bets, I urge everyone to go out and buy one more "assault rifle". Who's with me! LOL.

So, should I get the M1 I have always wanted, or a cheap SKS from Big 5? Pretty soon, muzzle loaders will be assault weapons if Barbarella gets her way!

Which "we"? California or national? Boxer's desires about gun control legislation were irrelevant in the previous congress. They're pure fantasy in the new congress.

And voting for high profile gun control legislation is only suicidal in most states and congressional districts. That California doesn't punish gun grabbers shouldn't surprise everyone, but doesn't matter much either. The rest of the country is perfectly willing to give them the smackdown.
