I think I've made my stand pretty clear... I'm pro-gun! I attended the GRPC and a handful of Calguns events, might even make it to the Nordyke argument next week. What more do you guys want from me? Blood? =)

That said, I'll be voting for Jerry Brown.

Another point along that line is that a CEO frequently does not have full discretion over all the policies of their company. They have to answer to a Board of Directors and to their shareholders.

To the best of my knowledge, Amazon.com still doesn't sell firearms. Yet they do not suffer the same approbation for maintaining a policy which seems to me to be similar to that of eBay. In fact, Amazon is in tight with the NRA and you can link to Amazon through the NRA website with the NRA getting a kickback from that.

In fact, I posted something similar on a different forum (a motorcycle forum) in response to someone who was complaining about "corporate pigs" like Fiorina and eMeg sending jobs overseas. I have a similar feeling about corporate policy, such as no firearm sales.

Food for though here for a minute.... We live in a capitalist society. That means you and I are free to be as successful as we want to be or fail as hard as we want to. CEOs of publicly held corporations have to make decisions based on what is best for stockholders. The bottom line is money and that's why corporations exist. If outsourcing jobs contributes to the bottom line of the company, then unfortunately that is the logical choice to facilitate making money. (we are talking about capitalism here, remember?) I'm not saying that I agree with outsourcing, however, the CEO has to answer to the board and the public. If they don't produce, they get canned.

In an interesting change of the playing cards, these former CEOs may become the leaders of our state where (I hope) they continue to make decisions that are best for the public. These decisions would be physically opposite of the choices they had to make while CEO, while fundamentally the same because they have to be what's good for business. Keeping jobs here, etc. We are left with no alternative. We need to see changes in California. Changes in the way California does business. We don't need more laws passed in the name of the environment such as the new motorcycle exhaust law; or children's safety such as pointless gun laws and "assault weapons" bans. The public just loves environmental laws even though many of them are REALLY to serve different purposes. ...And guess what? Criminals don't obey gun laws. Do they care about the 10 round magazine limit if they are going to murder someone? Probably not. Barbara Boxer has supported many, many of these types of laws. IMO, she is completely out of touch with reality.

This is such a pile of crap. No right minded CEO, including all the surrounding lawyers would want to be on the evening news explaining to some reporter how Ebay enabled Party A and Party B to exchange ammunition or guns to some ineligible person, who in turn destroyed your child. As a Pro Gun guy myself, my multi-million dollar trading company would have the EXACT same policy. Even a policy where members have an FBI background check on file (much like frontsight does) would make very little business sense for a profitable company like Ebay. Ebay is a money making machine, and if you owned it your lawyers would tell you the same thing, Your guns or your wallet. Stop spreading Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt.

Absolutely. And I'll bet anyone $100 that Jerry Brown, if elected, will do absolutely nothing to improve gun rights in California. And of course, his support of AB32, which will probably kill 1,000,000+ jobs in the state and increase energy costs for all of us shows what a left-wing, tree-hugging loonie he really is. I don't have a warm fuzzy feeling about Whitman's stance on gun rights either, but she is clearly the lesser of two evils IMO as she is much more likely to have a positive impact on the state's economy. Remember, you won't be able to by guns if you get laid off because your employer was forced to close it's doors due to increased taxes and government regulation.

BTW-if you care about the economy of this state at all you MUST VOTE YES on prop. 23!!!

I like what you said .....I agree with you 100 percent, this is why I have to go with the independent party this time around. Nightingale gets my vote. I love where she thinks they should limit the legilative sessions to every other year. although I have been told on here that by not voting for Jerry is Anti-Gun, I say, b.s....

Great response. As long as you do not vote for Jerry, then I know you did the smart thing and actually thought through other reasons aside from guns to vote for someone else. Apparently some of our other members are shallow or really have not much else outside of guns to think about the other issues in this race such as jobs, immigration, taxes, budgeting, government regulations, etc.

As someone who has never, ever, been registered in either party but has lived in a state and country that has been exclusively governed by both I think you're fooling yourself if you believe that Republicans are going to be any better at this. Arnold "stopped" to a degree? Give me a freaking break. He basically kicked the can down the road with enough bonds that my kid's, kid's will be paying for it. And as far as Republicans running the economy -- do I need to say anything more than George W. Bush?

I say that we should just abolish this incredibly silly and stupid party system.

Please read up on Gray Davis on wiki or any source and see what that tool did to CA. Then come back and tell me what you read and edit your post.

I know you are young...So when you grow up and make some money and I mean real money, you will learn to think about how important a vote is and what parties actually represent for you. That is one thing I will share with you for your future success.

Why presume to tell others what criteria they should use in deciding how to vote, who they should vote for and denigrate them if they do not follow what I'll presume from your post is your methodology for voting? I may actually agree with the premise of taking other issues into consideration, but basically telling people they're selfish and stupid unless they vote your way? People make their decision in a way that suits them best.
