There is NOTHING to envy here.... Nothing! We are the laughingstock of the U.S. And that's the way we're viewed.

This is what I do, even if I'm not going to buy something, if I'm interested in it enough to say "Damn I wish I could buy this" then I will try to politely educate the seller by providing links to CA PC's and sometimes to calguns too. If we educate sellers and get them to include CA in legal transactions, we defeat the attempts of the Anti's. So don't try to sue them, teach them the laws as best you can so CA can get some cool stuff from GB.The reality is that you can sell or not sell, to whomever you wish... as long as your not screwing a protected class.. Like that of race, religion, sexual preference, disabilities, etc. Ca residents are not a protected class and the sole reason these sellers do not sell to us is because of excessive regulation - extra hoops to jump through. As often as it pisses me off, it is their right.
The best way to deal with it is by educating the sellers and sweet talking them into selling to us if its a legal transaction. I have done this several times. Remember, if we have trouble figuring out the do's and dont's in CA without a lot of back and forth, how do you expect someone from another state to figure out our states BS?KTO 1911 80% + Rock Island Parts Kits + Aimsmall arms 1911 Jig group buy OPEN

This is exactly the arrogant, unteachable attitude that has people disgusted with this state. I'm not from here originally either. Kharn is correct. Everyone seen this coming EXCEPT people out here. Maybe other people from other states aren't so stupid after all. (SmIrK). Maybe even a great deal more clued in than most out here.
I think this thread has run its course.Comment

Glad you can use name calling to make you feel better! But in the spirit of things...my intent was not to offend(you) so much as to show my strong distaste, not to be offensive to you per say! BTW my vocabulary goes way beyond that...but heck this seems to be a family affair so I will refrain.

I gotta tell you -- the more you get revved-up the more you prove my point. I love California. I can't wait for my hike on Sunday in the redwoods near Big Sur. If God ever graced part of the world in a special way, California's redwood forests would be one of those places...
"NOTHING to envy here?" You can't be talking about California...Comment

You used God's name in vain. That's highly offensive to much of the world.Glad you can use name calling to make you feel better! It's his right to say what he will in whatever way he will (so long as the moderators of this site don't have objections to it based on the charter of the site -- it is a private site, after all).
It's your right (and the right of others) to be offended.
Freedom means you have to have the spine to tolerate the words and actions of others that you might not like. Don't like it? Tough. Move someplace where the right to speak your mind isn't so revered if it's so bothersome to you. But don't b*tch about the loss of a whole bunch of your other liberties as a result. Oh, wait, speaking your mind the way you want to isn't what you'll be concerned about anyway, so you won't have a problem holding your tongue then, right?Last edited by kcbrown; 09-17-2010, 11:04 PM.The Constitution is not "the Supreme Law of the Land, except in the face of contradicting law which has not yet been overturned by the courts". It is THE SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND, PERIOD. You break your oath to uphold the Constitution if you don't refuse to enforce unadjudicated laws you believe are Unconstitutional.

I was just pointing out that his using the Lord's Name in vain is something a real jerk would do. It's difficult to believe that someone could be so insensitive to others that he would even consider doing that. It's his right to say what he will (so long as the moderators of this site don't have objections to it based on the charter of the site -- it is a private site, after all).

I'm not even sure what he posting was about. As soon as I read that I stopped. I'm simply not interested in the views of someone that would do that...Comment

This thread gets an epic fail.
Seriously, people do not envy us living in California. They rather enjoy shooting semi-automatic, detachable magazine rifles with evil features. They enjoy SBRs, SBSs, suppressors, large capacity magazines, lower taxes, CCWs, leaded ammo, mail order ammo, non-rostered handguns, and political liberty.
I guess you can think that you have it so darn good here because you can hike in some green trees. I got news for you, there are green trees in the rest of the United States too. People shoot machine guns there. Do you shoot machine guns in your forest?
This thread is why so many people will not deal with California. You guys are full of yourself.
Get over it. The dude won't sell you a scope. Buy it somewhere else. Or better yet, just put up and post up your case information when you start your lawsuit.

WOW! I wasn't even gonna chime in on this after I saw a lot of common sensed replies to the OP. But Kynoch.............. Just WOW! (this is where I roll my eyes in disbelief!)
All I'm gonna say is this.... The OP's indignant entitelment metality combined with Kynoch's self rightous meanderings are 2 HUGE reasons why you'll hear anti California sentiments across the country!
Don't get me wrong Kynoch, I can understand your fervor for your home state. And I realize my statement above sounds like a personal shot towards you, but it's meant as more of a reality check with sincere honesty. It's a good thing to love where you're from and live. But don't let that love and passion blind you to reality.
The rest of the country aren't a bunch of trailer ridden rednecks livin in the backwoods takin scraps from California's greatness as you might believe. Lot's of smart hardworking folks all over the country if you can believe that. ;-)
I can't even begin to count how many times I've heard someone say they can't wait for the big earthquake to hit California and have it float away for good. Sad statement right?
Obviously these people aren't sociopaths wanting to see death and mayhem reign down on innocent people. But it's a condition of all the prevailing politics and perceived (real or not) attitudes of Californians.
And when someone (such as myself) who's not from California, and who holds some bitterness towards the things mentioned above, hears or reads something such as what you and the OP are saying........... You do nothing but reafirm the anxiety's and malcontent metality. Trust me, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with envy! Pity for your overly letigous and extreme Liberal politics perhaps....... But not "envy" by any stretch of the imagination. ;-)
I personally pray yearly for Californians to unite and start voting to correct the onslaught of the ridiculous mess out there. If for nothing more than to unite the states towards a stronger "Republic" such as our founding fathers intended.Last edited by Ape; 09-17-2010, 11:54 PM.Comment

Whenever I hear someone carp and moan about California who is not living in California I realize that 99% of the time their comments are based in envy.
I can't imagine living in much of the lower 48 after having been graced by God to live in California.Comment

I want a seller to say no sales to government agencies. Get the ball rolling.
I decided not selling to CA is just a bad idea though.Anyone who questions any government worker is now treated exactly the same as cop haters. So according to some, this is now cop bashing:
It's now extremism too:

I will weigh in here with a personal story. I found a Sig Sauer P239 .357 Sig in great condition in TN ( 50 rounds through it) that the seller wanted to move through the original seller. The ad on Gun Broker said "no Sale to CA" so I sent the seller a private email to ask why and say it was a shame since I was looking for an exact match. He replied with his concerns, my FFL walked him through it, and once we made the sale he said he's now enlightened and welcomes more Ca bidders. You see he'd heard horror stories trumped up the way some politicians make things up as they go along.
Look folks, it's just fear of what they don't know and the flames of that are fanned by people who don't like CA leaders (i have some sympathy there). We can fight it and win a lot (I think) with education--education is like the sun--it evaporates the fog of fear and ignorance. One at a time we have to take them on but we can help turn the tide. Don't give up--ask why and try to see if you can strike a deal. I have several times now.It can be done.Benefactor Life Member NRA, Life Member CRPA, CGN Contributor, US Army Veteran, Black Ribbon in Memoriam for the deceased 2nd Amendment
