Outside the Box... Bear Box that is:

So there is a push to bring Grizzlies back into CA, which of course the "safe forest, no mean creatures, Tahoe cabin owning" crowd is desperately against for safety reasons.

I'm pretty sure every state with Grizzlies is an open carry State, and if Grizzlies were here in CA, the same folks that didn't want them back would be screaming to allow some form of carry in CA...

I know this is outside the box, but I really believe having Grizzlies back in our Forests would change the political landscape of CA. No more would our Forest be "UL Approved".

Hit this petition up and lets see if we can pull the old ooptie-oop on CA.

PS- Apparently these folks are going for a ballot initiative and are closer than you might think to pulling it off....

I think that a member of that crowd would continue to be anti gun while a bear was eating his liver. "Bad bear! Why are you doing this!"

Sure, I signed. Maybe the grizzlies will eat enough hiking yet unarmed liberals to tip the political balance in this state.

It will be a long time before reintroduced Grizzlies meet/eat their first human.

I seem to remember in my readings of CA grizzlies, that they were mostly lowland animals. Like hanging out in the central valley preying on elk and pronghorn. Black bears were in the mountains to avoid grizzles.
What happens if they release some in the Sierras and the all move down into the valley?

The Center for Biological Diversity are the same ones who continue to push for the closure of trails in the Sierras for any sort of recreation, powered, horse, bike, etc. I will never support any of their causes, nor sign their petitions.

They are eco-Nazis who want to keep people out of OUR public lands, and this is just another way to push their agenda of deeming more of our country as wilderness.

Before the California libs agree that you should be able to carry a gun to protect yourself, they'll restrict access to lands where the grizzlies inhabit. See, it all works out as they planned.

Yeah, grizzlies were in the grasslands and oakland savanahs. Places like Stanford would have an interesting dynamic with 1000 pound serial killers roaming around.

I know that at least two news reports from the late 1800s mentioned maulings and deaths by grizzlies in San Benito County.

I'm more afraid of the two legged animals than the four in the forest....or the big cities too.

What kind of handgun are you thinking of carrying to defend yourself from an 800lb grizzly?
