Simple answer, there are like 20 other bills just as bad or worse to fight.

Yeah, I know there's a ton.. It's hard to keep up between my work load and home life. I just sign every petition I can, write legislation and the governor and vote republican. I don't have time to be a cheeky, Cheeto stained finger neck beard troll at misinformed posts. I expect the **** from the Internet, but I also expect us to not be at each others throats when others are just trying to figure out what to do as much as the next. That being said, even though we're on the same team, I wasn't given a straight answer. A two or three character response is all it would have taken..

Stay positive. We're in this together. Thank you.

Ostys, yes this bill is donzo.

No you may not relax, there are other so called "AW" bills to worry about still.

For sure.. But at least that's one down... For now. Thank you for the response! I wasn't completely clear on "dead in committee" meant.. I got a chance to read back a few pages to see. Is the other bad one 1664, if I'm not mistaken? And that one is very much alive and well?

1663 may be dead in committee, but 1664 is still alive from my understanding. Which basically does the exact same thing.

SB880 keeps features, but requires disassembly of the action for mag removal.

That's the whole point, isn't it? Death by a thousand cuts. These gun grabbers will literally never stop this agenda. For those of us forced to remain here for the time being, fight it!

I'm keeping my FPC and NRA memberships up, but man.
I voted with my feet and moved to Colorado. Got 200 acres and a nice big house for the price of an old tiny condo in California. I shoot from the deck, bust out the explosive targets when visitors come to town, hunt elk, deer and antelope on my property and the Colorado constitution forbids a gun registry. I got tired too. Good luck Ex fellow Californians. I mean it.

(Summarizing for a link from my signature.) AB 1663 died in committee. It was not among the bills considered or signed by the Governor in 7/2016. This was the only bill that proposed any changes for rifles that do not currently need a fixed/non-detachable magazine to avoid AW definition.

                      Among others, examples include:
                      • M1 Garand
                      • M1 Carbine
                      • M1A (no flash-hider)
                      • Mini-14
                      • Saiga
                      • SKS non-detachable magazine
                      • AR-pattern "featureless" build

However, the legislature can try again next year.
